Long Term or Short Term

I've been evaluating a few of my websites. Stupidly I sold the best one I owned a few years back for 3 years revenue. This may have seemed like a good deal at the time, but the chances are it is earning more now and if its not, it would have paid for itself anyway. I looked at the short term rather than the long term.

How do you plan your marketing and websites in general, for the long term or short term?

Well, from my current website portfolio I'm willing to sell all those whose earnings are 1k per month or less and only have a few pages of content.
I'm convinced that as time goes by Google will start tackling even more on small websites (happening now), so I think it's best to get rid of them.

I focus more on small short-term sites for now because I am still new to the whole thing of making money on the Internet. But I have plans to make 1 or 2 long-term sites as I gain experience. As they seem to be an easy way to insure a consistent income.

The sites on my drawing board are for long term projects.....
To me it makes sense to build a solid business and continue to improve on a solid foundation....

You should always plan your market in short term and long term goals, something short term might be completely different to long term because you don't know how it'll change in the middle, know what I mean? I try to plan as effectively as I can, and try to predict that sudden change that might make it better or worse off, if it begins to change, I re-evaluate and then adjust goals.

A but of both. On net, anything can me unviable in a short period of time, so it is important that you make money today. Future is obviously important, but should not come at the cost of not making money today,

Depends on exit strategy, if you want to keep the site for steady revenue, plan for long term. If your exit is to sell the project, short term goals may pay off.

Well, as mentioned I'm building forums now, so these are keepers for the long term. I may sell years down the line, but I doubt it would be any time within the next 5 years.

Always plan for a long term plan and next time, always think a hundred times before selling it.

I plan for the long term always. Also i'm willing to make investments into the future of my sites because i know in the long run if i do sell, it would be worth more.
