Improve Writing Skills By Reading and Watching News

Anyone do something similar?

By now you should know that headlines are very important. If you can’t create headlines that capture attention, then you’re toast.

As a writer, this is a skill you desperately need to learn first. Well-crafted headlines will generate more views, engage readers and convert clicks. That’s the reason why writers could spend as long as several days to come up with the best headlines.

Any feedback?

I can't stand watching tv news, but I guess I do something similar to what they're suggesting - I use a news reader (feed demon) and subscribe to a lot of feeds. I probably click thru less than 1 article per hundred - and it is all about the title.

Pick up a newspaper every morning and study how each article is written. Then practice writing like that.
Good advice I guess, but I almost choked when I read it. Who reads newspapers? I can't remember the last time I even touched one.

My advice is watching tv shopping commercials. They have a huge success for writing keyword rich texts. They don't tell anything but fill your head with headlines and phrases

Well, let's try to be honest for some seconds here, even the world famous writers began from zero one day, those prolific bloggers whose portals are worth millions were once newbies but they read books, bookmarked and accessed relevant, content-heavy websites, got into habit of watching news, listening to radio programs covering their favorite subjects, exchanged viewpoints with other gurus, worked and practiced and now they create wonders which manage to win links, and decent traffic.

Writing great headlines is essential for grabbing attention from readers and search engines. Coming up with interesting and different titles will make people want to see what is all about. Also, it will increase your chances of ranking for different long tail keywords.

You should proceed to answer the question you asked on your title or start explaining what you mean. You cannot write a great title and a content that isn't connected with it. The article was great in explaining how to grab attention, keep people interested and informed. We cannot all have news worthy content all the time but it helps to adhere to certain standards.
