Allow members to input to site

I am an enthusiastic but amateur webmaster and maintain a site for a charity (U3A). We would like to allow selected people to be able to post a message on the Home Page (meeting is off type of message) but I don't know how to go about it. Can anyone point me towards a solution please?

How is the site currently built?
Is it just flat .html files, or is there an underlying CMS system? If the latter, I'm sure you could find someone to implement such a feature for you, for a cost.

Thanks Meerkat: Site is just .html docs ( I don't know about CMS). In the past I had something from ZOHO which would probably suit my need.

Hey Woodyham,

If you are looking for users to post some comment on your website then you need a dynamic platform. As you mentioned your current site is built with plain html it won't be feasible at this point.posting comments to the site needs some sort of scripts which is further stored in the database.
It would be good to move to some CMS platform like Wordpress etc to achieve this requirement.

Happy Coding!

You'll definitely need to look at a programming language and a database, whether you choose something like PHP, ruby, etc as the programming language and MySQL, MongoDB as the database.

The other option is to obviously pay someone to do this work for you. If it's just posting messages to a homepage I can't see it costing much at all.

This might be an option for you https://disqus.com/

Not sure how it works but says it can be used on most any type of site.
