If session is considered as amount of time spend by a
visitor then it must have counted in time but sessions shows some numbers how can you explain this?

sorry i was a bit confused now check google's definition of session :

"A session is a group of interactions that take place on your website within a given time frame. For example a single session can contain multiple screen or page views, events, social interactions, and ecommerce transactions."

if you check in google anlaytics of a website, you will see :

sessions : the total number of sessions users had on your site during a particular period of time .

pages/session : means average number of pages visited by the users during a session

avg.session duration : means the average amount of time the use take for a session on your website

%new sessions : means the percentage of new sessions by user during the particular period of time.
