Windows XP

Hi,
I am currently running my computer on windows XP. I saw somwhere that I may be unable to run my computer soon, because windows did not make any update on that version of windows. Is there someone that could tell me more about it?

Thank you

If I understand your question correctly, you still will be able to use your computer despite the fact that you are running Windows XP, which is no longer being supported. The issue is that since there will be no more updates to XP, you are going to be more and more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. In addition another problem lies with newer programs and software that will have issues running since the newest drivers will not be provided.

For more accurate and reliable info I suggest you read:

Windows xp is no longer being supported, but you can use it as long as you want, just no more update.

You can use window xp for as many years as you want. But there will be no updates from Microsoft.Certainly most of the people don't update there windows unless they have genuine one.

I still have it on one of my systems and IMO, as long as one has a decent firewall and AV ( I use Kaspersky) then protection will be fine.

I run other progs also such as SuperAntiAspyware etc but all in all, pretty confident with things.

Like people have said, latest software compatibility may be an issue but other than that, you should be fine.

I keep a pc with Windows XP, because it is setup like I like for it to be, it has its uses, and can be used for special purposes. One of which is to test software out on that type of a system to see how it will perform for someone who still runs that operating system. ie testing platform. And it reminds me of the "bad 'good' ol days".

No man, you took it wrong, your pc will work on XP but the update that MS was providing to protect XP from virus and Trojan will be no given, but you can use an anti virus for its instead, that's it.

As others have said, you will still be able to run your XP computer but Microsoft is no longer providing any updates for that OS. You will have problems with some of the new software on the market that won't support that OS. I have a laptop with XP on it that I use for certain things but sooner or later you will need to upgrade to a more recent OS to be able to use the newer software.

You can use your computer as is. All software updates will no longer be supported. In the long run, it's best if you will upgrade your OS.

I have been using windows xp since 2010 up until now. I have researched about this before April 8 2014 when they announced that there won't be any more updates for windows xp. Yes, like many of the posts above say, you can still use windows xp.

I like windows xp because I am comfortable with how things are set up. I got so used to operate with its set up that its hard for me to move on to windows 7 and higher. It's my netbook though. I just bought a pc that is operating with windows 7.

You can still use that OS but they are just not interested in updating any software related to XP.

So, take precaution and migrate to Windows 7 or 8.

You can use windows xp as much as you want , but eventually you have to change it as the softwares will no longer support it.

.. . . so why wait till that ?

Like others have said. Windows XP can still be used for as long as you want to. They just don't support it anymore.

I have an almost 8 year old desktop emachines computer running windows xp still.

I don't use it much except for mainly watching youtube and other videos on it with my old crt screens that I've picked up out of dumpsters and by peoples Garbage.

I have around 10 of the working crts left. We'll see if the computer outlasts these crt's. lol

I gave $300.00 for the computer without screen at Walmart and will continue to use it until it dies and doesn't turn on anymore.

I've got my money's worth already from the computer but figure if it's still working I may as well use it.
