software and information such as ebooks are very profitable, but far and away I'd go with advertising as a massive profit centre.

Religion is the best. Look at all those religious shows on TV collecting money from people.

Once a grilled cheese sandwich sold for 10000 dollars because it looked like Mary Mother of God.

Profit Niche - MSN BCentral's KW Analyzer (SubmitIt)

Hi all, happy new year.

On MSN bCentral, SubmiIt has a tool for KW selection which compares keywords vis a vis one another, in terms of how they rank in what I would call "profitable nicheability" (how's that for a messed up word): in other words, number of times a word was searched v. the number of sites or pages opimitized for that keyword. This is my definition of profitability in terms of energy spent in SEO.

This tool is premised on a site and page already registered in MSN's bCentral. Anyone know of a decent tool for this kind of analysis, on a stand alone basis? (not just number of searches per month, but number of searches v. number of pages existing on the web).

-Paul

The best would be to sell an intangible item or service with a strong brand. vBulletin makes a killing with vitually no competition.

• Marketing
• Fund Raising
• Consultation
• Insurance
• Travel
• Gambling
• Porn

There are many ways, the ones above are very profitable and require knowledge passed on through years of research, practice, who you know, and some luck. And of course in some cases good cashflow.

.
So true, selling technology products has low profit margin. You have to sell a lot to make it up. The best website are ones that sells a service.

In my opinion, all product will have their own niche market. Go to the right target market and remember to play well in the number game.

3 factors will affect your profits and how rich you can be:

1. number of customers/ traffic
2. profit margin
3. number of sales/ repeat sales

1. number of customers/ traffic
whether you are selling pornographic or health supplements, traffic is the lifestream.

2. profit margin
what product can sell for highest profit margin? knowledge, experience, information(that's how the word "finder's fee" come from), consultation, service...

3. number of sales/repeat sales
if a client come to you twice instead of once every year, you have made a 100% increase in your business.

Now, say that in 2006, you increase your number of customers by 10%, you increase your profit margin by 10%(remember to add value to your product!), and repeat sales increase by 10%. Your earning for 2006 increase by 33.1%. Isn't the number game amazing?

Zero-content sites that sell subscriptions to other sites and make an affiliate commission. No overhead.

The kind that you know a lot about because you can add more content and probably understand the industry better than a site you are starting to becomine the most profitable

I really cant understand how Google make as much as they do, I would have thought that ebay would generate lots more income its baffling considering how popular ebay is and you pay to list, pay to transfer money through paypal etc, and google is just an advertising company...crazy. I heard that Google has a cash reserve of $10 Bn

That is true but Google are only a part of that market, ebay is basicly A market in its own right, Google has some massive competitors, however they are being bought out by them and Microsoft but still.
