I think twitter will be a thing of the past when there's a new site that offers the same like twitter but has more beneficial features. Even so twitter will not easily die.

I think it's dying. I just started using it and I don't see myself using it long-term. None of my real friends use it and I doubt it would appeal to them. When I just joined I was also disappointed by the number of bot followers whose only motive is to get you to sign up for their spammy updates. It would be a much nicer place if those promoting their products were genuinely interested in the updates of the people they follow as well. It's sad if the greediness of some people would lead to Twitter's death.

I haven't noticed thread. And I'm late for a reaction.

Well, IMO, it is really too soon to judge. We can't tell whether twitter will die soon or not. Not unless they have something to replace it. (I don't think FriendFeed as a real threat...) But right now, I see that it is getting more popular on most people. Some of my friends that has no twitter account before, and they did sign-up a few weeks ago just to get on the "what's-new" technology. As for the rise and fall of traffic, it may be normal for a mini-blog site to have that difference because of the people going in and out of the site. Just like me, there are days where I feel like tweeting, and there are days where I feel like I don't. It all comes natural I think.

And it may or may not die soon, it can improve, but totally die? I really can't visualize it right now.

As someone stated earlier in the posting, the media has hyped Twitter up. Kinda just how Myspace got hyped up. You have grandmothers and folks who don't even get online but watch the news and know that they can follow Larry King on Twitter. I don't see Twitter going anywhere for some time. There already are copycats out there, but they do not have the media's attention. Just how myspace has "slowed" down in many folks oppinion, it still grows to this day. And I feel twitter is the same way. Not going anywhere for awhile, if it does...

just my two cents anyway 8-)

Your two cents were dead on, belleinc.

I'm amazed at how much I see twitter on television now. It's the newest celebrity craze. I can't see it going anywhere.

Unless Twitter develops into something better I can't see it lasting. It has received great promotion from a number of celebs that say they use it but that can't be a long term strategy.

My guess is that it'll get sold and merged into another big player.
