The Death of Twitter?
What are your thoughts on this? Is Twitter dying? Or, is the hype just leveling out? As always, please read the article before replying...

Twitter—elevated to the dizzying heights of social media rock stardom, has now been surrounded by equally alarming premonitions of doom.

Last night I was getting errors while on Twitter... Just now I got this error...
"Something is technically wrong.
Thanks for noticing—we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon."
Twitter won't load.

What does that have to do with the topic? Unless you are talking about the mechanical death of twitter.
It is actually hard to say. I think it is definitely less a hype than cuil (does anybody remember cuil?) but I could see people getting annoyed by the number of characters. At the same time, that's what make it efficient. People don't write novels and cut straight to the point.
Not like my current rant
I think it's too soon to judge. To me, it's gonna live some more but won't come close to be the next facebook for example.
It's more a toy than anything else.

If I may add, blackberry and iPhones play a huge role in the development of twitter, which might make it survive the new car phase

Have never really liked Twitter. Seems over-hyped to me. Looks like one of these trashy Paid To Surf sites.

I've seen this posted a few times that friendfeed is getting bigger and bigger.
The reason you'll see a lot of people sign up and leave, is all the celebrity influence on twitter. Joe Smith will sign up to follow Britney Spears, maybe post an update but might not ever come back.
Just my thoughts, I don't see Twitter dieing anytime soon.

personally I think Twitter will go pretty soon because it is actually to basic. Ultimately "following" people becomes very boring very quickly. the drop out percentage/rate is just to big and fast.
facebook made a VERY smart change with their recent revision of their layout. Facebook is basically now Twitter on steroids with a constantly updating newsfeed and the ability to comment on specific updates in a separate individual conversation stream. Facebook has built something that pulls you in with so many different things going on your have a longer retention rate in my opinion.
Personally I think Facebook will continue to grow and soon absorb or eclipse all of the others.

I think it's dying. I just started using it and I don't see myself using it long-term. None of my real friends use it and I doubt it would appeal to them. When I just joined I was also disappointed by the number of bot followers whose only motive is to get you to sign up for their spammy updates. It would be a much nicer place if those promoting their products were genuinely interested in the updates of the people they follow as well. It's sad if the greediness of some people would lead to Twitter's death.

I don't think twitter is about to die or anything because of the spams and promotions going on on twitter. Twitter still is a fun place to be.
Many people are promoting stuff on twitter but you should not forget the truth that it is your choice to follow or unfollow anyone you like or don't like on twitter. If you want to keep it personal on twitter, you can.
I don't think twitter is going anywhere for a long long time. If you understand twitter then I don't think you will ever leave tweeting plus I think that this is just a crazy idea from someone who doesn't like twitter.

My messages were posted a little bit delayed (few days ago). Maybe the server is really busy.

twitter is good for lots of things but i am still thinking over that one day when everyone will be just behind improving the number of followers and marketing products. it is going to touch the big heights but at that time will it count the same worth as it is now?
