do not recommend using it as a primary way to build links or as an integral part of your SEO program.

Links in the video description are nofollow - and you can not use alt tags. So they are of little use for building page rank links.

* Videos on YouTube are on YouTube so any optimization effort you implement helps YouTube and not your website/pages.

Wrong - You can create a video sitemap to tell google that you have videos on your site. The video sitemap has been around for years. This shows the authors actual knowledge on the topic, which aint much

Google supports mRSS, an RSS module that supplements the element capabilities of RSS 2.0 to allow for more robust media syndication. If you publish an mRSS feed for the video content on your site, you can submit the feed's URL as a Sitemap.

While traffic from YouTube can be beneficial, you have to optimize the content on YouTube like any other in order for people to find it. This is time better spent elsewhere.

Wrong - Youtube is my #2 source of targeted traffic with only about a 23% bounce rate. If that is not time well spent, I dont know what is.

Wrong - there are a lot of people that promote their sites/products on youtube. Its like the #1 place to go for reviews.
Youtube is my forums #2 source of targeted traffic. Its very possible to create something and promote it on youtube.

Overall, I found the author of the article to be posting opinion, and not facts. Get your facts straight and try again.

I have been posting videos on youtube for 2 1/2 years. It pisses me off when people trash talk youtube and they dont have the slightest idea what their posting.
I wonder if the author even has a youtube account? Because I sure did not see a link to it.
Its like the author had some ideas, pulled stuff out of thin air and posted it with no real facts or evidence to back up the statements.
Just on the video optimization and the "videos not making sale" - the author got the facts totally wrong. You can make sales from youtube and you can optimize your site for embedded videos.
