Thumbs up Are you taking advantage of Social Media & your Communities

As some of you may know, or not know, I have a bit of a Twitter addiction
It's not all bad, but at times it seems a bit excessive.lol
Here is are some of the positive results from the addiction.
This is an article I posted on How to use Social Media to build traffic & Brand awareness to your forums, but could be said for websites like blogs as well.
This article outlines how I use Twitter, but the same methods could be applied for Facebook, LinkedIn and a number of other Social Media websites.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll try to answer them as quickly as I can.

I've never been a fan of digg, I guess it's because my forum was banned years ago.
I'll have to try it out on my blog with my next social media post.

It's something you must work at, it doesn't "just happen" IMO.
Take for example this Twitter account @BrandonSheley
I just started building it up 2 days ago, followed all my vbulletin friends and local friends on Twitter. So far I have 400 followers and in almost 30 list. Hopefully after a month or two, I'll be able to have a few thousand followers and 50 or so list.
I haven't tried pushing anyone to my site, just talking about what's going on in my life & it's working so far.

Brandon, I'd suggest you build your followers gradually.
In my early Twitter days I tried to follow as much people as possible and then I hit the 2000 people limit that I am allowed to follow

Twitter can really be of help on promoting your site and has been proven to be effective as well, the only thing a bit hard on twitter is to get followers.

I've already ran into that problem on several accounts, I just clear out anyone who doesn't follow me back and it's not a problem
