I've had the URL to my sites posted on my facebook page. But didn't receive a lot of traffic directed from facebook. Guess people are more immune to online ads on social networking sites these days.
If you are looking to success, you might need to try contact everyone on your account and persuade them to check it out. If your content are good, people might keep checking your site on a regular base and even refer it to their friends. It might be the key to make social networking sites helpful.
I just find it hard and very time-consuming.
