The Google+ Social Network, Finally Arrives
That's right, Google just went social. lol
Quote:
Among the most basic of human needs is the need to connect with others. With a smile, a laugh, a whisper or a cheer, we connect with others every single day.
Today, the connections between people increasingly happen online. Yet the subtlety and substance of real-world interactions are lost in the rigidness of our online tools.
In this basic, human way, online sharing is awkward. Even broken. And we aim to fix it.
We’d like to bring the nuance and richness of real-life sharing to software. We want to make Google better by including you, your relationships, and your interests. And so begins the Google+ project:

First Look: “Hands On” With Google+
Oops, i wanted to post this story also.
Greg Sterling of searchengineland wrote up a review after playing around with this network.
Quote:
I’ve been manically playing with Google Plus for about an hour now and, while there is disagreement here among the editorial team at Search Engine Land, I give it a qualified “thumbs up.”
At first glance many people will dismiss Google Plus as redundant and derivative of Twitter and Facebook, in particular. This was also true of the ill-fated Buzz. But this is a much better and more thoughtfully designed product than Buzz.
Familiar UI but Takes Getting Used To
Accordingly the interface is familiar and relatively intuitive but Google Plus still takes some “getting used to.” Some have already criticized Google Plus as a “reactive” product, simply mimicking Facebook with some tweaks.
Google’s radically different product Google Wave crashed and burned because people didn’t really know what it was or how to use it. It was too scary unfamiliar. Plus plays it safer and is less of a...

Just started using Google Plus and figured it would be useful to put all of the shortcuts I have found thus far, most from responses to a Matt Cutts post, in one handy place. Please add more in the comments as you discover them:

I suspect it will be a big success for google. Its part of the google worship mentality....people are knocking the door down to let google invade every aspect of their life and this just adds to that euphoria.

Google Release New Spam Bot In Form Of Google Plus
Quote:
There has been a huge amount of hype surrounding the release of Google Plus, a social networking addition to their already robust portfolio and the main reasoning behind the Google +1 buttons that have begun to be implemented across search engine results pages and websites across the globe.
Well with so much anticipation to see exactly what Google have been able to create, once given the chance to sample the experience that many are yet to learn of but within minutes of access, the first problem has already raised its ugly head.
Testing of the Google Plus site has revealed that the latest offering from the online giants is a cloaked version of a spam bot that potentially is going to cause issues for millions of online email users.
So where does the problem arise?
The fact that Google Plus allows non Google Mail accounts to be placed into the contacts list within the site has opened up a huge security issue for email users based on the fact that Google have allowed you to share anything that you wish with huge contact lists, regardless of whether they use Gmail or not.
Here is an image of the screen box that you are presented with when you select to share something with your contacts, make sure to take note of the highlighted area as this is the extension of your ‘social circle’.

I asked for a invite from a fellow moderator but never used it. I like Facebook with it's flaw's but they working on these flaw's. No ads yet on + but it's still in beta with limited members accepted. I know they will add some ad's to it because Google tries to earn income from almost every product they put out. Google buzz was made out to be the best thing since sliced bread and failed super fast. Google + will not fail but will eventually copy Facebook's whole look. Google is jealous that Facebook is just as popular as there whole company and Facebook is just one website. I don't like using multiple social sites daily because i can't keep up with all my followers. Facebook has everything that i want to use to talk to my friends and family members. Google + might not die off but will never be as popular as Facebook. Facebook now has a competitor and now they will work twice as hard to stay on top.
Google + is just a baby and we don't know how Google will raise there baby.

Google VP Explains the Google+ "Real Name" Policy
Some info to read.
Quote:
Vic Gundotra, Google's VP of Social, discussed the company's decision on enforcing real names for users. While Google accepts pseudonyms, it's pushing for the use of actual names rather than complex or offensive "fake" names.
Google's Policy on Real Names
I previously discussed Google's banning of various users with abnormal or celebrity names, and the mixed consequences; Google banned several actual celebrities and numerous users who had abnormal names (Avril Korman also looked at the controversy around pseudonyms on Google+). That's why Robert Scoble, a tech blogger who....

I have an account a month back but I do not really login and familiarize with this new networking site. Simply for the reason of the interface is not attractive enough
I always thought that Google's products are so much user-friendly like Google Search Engine, Google Adwords, Google Adsense, Google Insights and etc, until Google+ and I am a little bit fed up with the interface. Maybe it is still in beta version and the interface was not fully released, I guessed?
For the moment, I'll still with Facebook

Google is really trying to be all things to all men. I wonder if Google is beginning to spread a little thin. Time will show if they can take on Facebook. I'll try it yourself when it becomes generally available.
