I do agree with you. but, Google must work hard to make G+ is popular as facebook or other SB. Actually I am not usual with the G+. I prefer using twitter and fb than G+

As Google entered into the social networking site and recently into the personalized search engine, there are great opportunities for Facebook as it has already been top in the arena of social networking and can enhance their search tool to compete with Google.

This probably wont happen, like everyone is saying.. But I would choose google, easy navigation and they are constantly offering more and more to help user experience.

I don't see Facebook starting an engine. One important point that is overlooked is that Facebook is internal. It doesn't want to send you away from its internal source. Google puts you out to almost all sorts of external spots. Even though both "services" if you want to call them that, have the factor of advertising and revenue they both engage users in a different way.

Now that FB has filed for IPO, you never know what they will do next. They got a lot to worry about now but i don't see a search engine coming up anytime soon.

it all depends on your business model.
I prefer Google as it gives more targeted users to my websites. Facebook is a total different story with its different marketing strategies.

But anyways, it won't become popular until and unless the majority of internet users depend more on social search and I am saying that because I am assuming that whenever Facebook builds a search engine, it would be based on social search.

I agree and I dont think I will ever be in a discussion and where someone will say lets facrbook it.. lol it just dosent sound right...
Hmm I am hungry I think im gonna facebook it
or how about : I need an SEO Quote, im gonna go facebook it
um no, not gonna happen.
The whole "GOOGLE IT" will keep Google the preferred search engine.

google is very popular because of its services and offerings and i think if facebook opens a new search engine then definetly it will become famous as millions of people uses it but that search engine has to be good in user interface and services provided.

Facebook wouldn't be able to compete. Google has set the standards for search engines in how things get ranked and continually improving with the panda updates.
All Facebook could do is copy off Google like Google+ copied off of Facebook.

Google and Facebook ( Fb) will continue to duke it out over the top spot in
the display ad market. Mark social network remain's one of the main competitive risks to google's absolute
dominance of the Internet.
