Is Facebook is following Twitter?

After the recent update i have analysed that Facebook is following Twitter because Timeline Option was added by Twitter some days ago after that Facebook launched it's new timeline. Looks like a big company is following a small company. Share your views on this =]

Yes you are right... they should not have used the term 'Timeline'... this is a similar term for Twitter.

I don't know that I'd say Facebook was copying Twitter, and I hadn't heard of Timelines.com until I read that thread above.. but personally I think the timeline update is one that FB could have done without.. personally don't like it at all

This is absolutely true but the fact is that everyone is trying to copy features of another on theirs own. This is a common process now.

Absolutely agree with you! In fact it annoys me so much that I've really reduced the time I spend on facebook!

here is no matter about the big or small. If there is something innovative with the small then any company should come down either big or small. however, no offense. both are different social media platforms and having their own identity.

Well I have a positive look on this.I dont see any problem If a big giant follow a small company's innovative idea.At the end of the day Its all about competition and giving the best service and experience to its users.

Seriously doubt Facebook retooled their interface in a few days. More likely both sites were working on a similar idea simultaneous and Twitter got theirs in the field first.

I just got curious about the thread title that's why I decided to check it. And it's good to know that Twitter is the first one to use Timeline. And this is the first time I've heard of that lawsuit. Facebook might have brought an innovation but they should not have used the term "Timeline".

Twitter is not a small company. Or if Twitter is small then I'm an existing company that sells!

However it's normal for almost similar sites to do what the other is doing.
But until Facebook is not introducing search for wall post ... it won't follow Twitter.

Some people have mentioned that they do not like the facebook timeline. I actually really think its neat lets you highlight the important photos and stories and looks pretty neat.

It is not like that small company is followed by bigger company its just that everyone try to keep changing according to the liking of users that is what Facebook is doing.

Well, I must agree that the timeline feature of both sites has dissimilar reason and function.

Facebook timeline is quite confusing at first but later did I realize that the content on my page become more organized by year and compiled into a constant stream and once you get the hang of it everything will be acceptable.
