Ready or Not, You’re Getting Facebook Timeline
This sucks, i don't want the timeline and currently don't have it right now but will eventually. Of course this won't stop me from using Facebook but i just want to complain for a little bit.
Quote:
Facebook announced in a blog post Tuesday that Timeline will be coming to all users in the next few weeks.
According to a Facebook blog post Tuesday — or rather, an update to the post published when Timeline became available to all users — you will have seven days to preview your Timeline and hide content you don’t want out in the open.
Facebook says you’ll receive a notification at the top of your home page when Timeline has landed in your account. That seven-day preview period is the same for users who activate Timeline and those whose accounts are activated automatically.
The new interface and features have been opt-in, and will continue to be until the roll out becomes universal. Beginning in...

Even I am not using it yet and although some of my friends are using it, I for one don't like it all. I hope it doesn't make it mandatory to use it.

Actually I'm a facebook app developer, I've got a notification/invitation to preview the time line before its official launch. I've activated it at that time, but i thought that there will be a option to roll back to the previous profile look (because i thought that it is like beta testing/test preview) and however i am unable to roll back. So, only one thing i can do i.e. to create a cover page with my own idea, finally done! got a big feedback on my cover page in time line... many people in my network given me the positive feedback. So, except cover page feature all other features sucks

28 Essential Facebook Timeline Resources
I just added this blog post to my web favorites for when i'm forced to use the Timeline feature soon. lol
Quote:
Facebook announced on its blog Tuesday that all users will have Timeline within the next few weeks, bringing a close to the gradual rollout process that began September 2011.
Timeline changes the old Facebook profile from a list of your recent updates to a summary of your life since birth. Among its new features is a cover photo at the top of your profile and a timeline to which you can add life events not previously captured by Facebook. The new profile is thought to be one of Facebook’s most extreme redesigns so far, redefining what a social networking profile can do.
Whether you’ve already switched to the new feature or you’re baffled by the new look, read on for Mashable‘s roundup of Timeline resources to help you with the transition

I think this is a sort of gamble move which could backfire, since the people could easily switch to the competition if the timeline model proves faulty or in facebook terms "unlikable". I like the profile option and will keep it as long as I can. Why in the world would someone want to have their entire life published online? And in a timeline...

I do not like facebook timeline, often does not give me information that I could see before, and that I used before.

I immediately login in Facebook to check if I received a notification about timeline, I didn't receive it. Then the next day I log in again, I got the notification and forced to activate the timeline on my profile, very disappointed. :'( I hate this feeling of leaving a user no choice but to follow.

Facebook Timeline and Users: Not Quite a Love Affair [POLL RESULTS]
Check out the poll results.
Quote:
When news broke last week that Facebook Timeline was coming to all Facebook users, it answered the question many people had been wondering: “What’s taking so long?” However, now we’re faced with a more pressing question: Is Facebook Timeline for All what all really wants? Mashable‘s poll sought to answer that burning question.
By one measure, the answer is, “Perhaps not.” At least that’s the sentiment Mashable’s poll, which asked, “How are you affected?”, uncovered last week.
In the poll, exactly 50% of nearly 1,600 respondents said they currently have Facebook Timeline.
However, a survey of the results would indicate that while some users are receptive to Timeline, most aren’t thrilled about the prospect of the feature becoming universal. In fact, 79% of more than 1,500 voters wish that Facebook Timeline were optional.
Of course, it should be noted that this data is merely anecdotal, and...

I don't like the time line design - everything seems so big and for me it looks a bit messy than the usual/original look. The only thing that makes it interesting is the cover photo on top of the users profile page

The timeline move by Facebook is another change that users will adapt to over time. Once the roll out is complete and everyone has made the transition then it will be time for another change. Facebook isn't about to go static on its layout anytime soon.

Is Facebook Timeline activation will really become universal? It's mid-February already but I still have friends who's profile are not Timeline enabled (yet) (include snake! ehehe...). Make me wonder, is this a hoax to force people to you it?
Snake, since I notice your Facebook profile have not Timeline enabled, may I ask if you received the prompt? If yes, how long up to now?

We have no choice but we need to get used to it. As we need to adopt to changes being brought each day. Like what happened to Facebook, it brought many changes that users got adopted to. Like with this Timeline, before they gave us an option but now, no options for us but to use it.
