Google Plus is still not seamless. It has some missing features however if it will be completed soon enough then its popularity might grow better than Facebook.

I'm sure G+ will have UNIQUE influence on Google's rankings soon (if not right now). Why so? I believe that's the way they will take some Facebook's market share.

Why do you think Google+ is better? Facebook is more popular and talked about online so i'm puzzled to why people think G+ is better?

Funny how i've asked the same thing more then once on this forum and the member never responded after that in the thread.
Until Google+ is ranked 1 in the social world, it's not better then Facebook. I'll have to post some stats when mashable posts something about this. They do this from time to time.
Google+ is advertised in adwords by Google and still they can't even come close to Facebook. lol

FYI, that member is banned and will never be back.
Ok, i found a blog post with some stats.

In the course of announcing a facelift for Google+ on Wednesday, Google dropped a notable status update: The social network now has 170 million users.
The company’s post claims that “more than 170 million people have upgraded to Google+,” a figure that almost doubles the figure that Google threw out for Google+ in January. Assuming the self-reported figure is true, that means that G+ is now the third-largest U.S.-based social network in the world.
To be sure, G+ is still miles behind Facebook’s 850 million users and Twitter’s 500 million, but it appears to be comfortably ahead of LinkedIn’s 150 million, though LinkedIn’s figures are from February and have likely increased since then. (A LinkedIn rep declined comment on the company’s current user base size.)
So, does that mean that Google+ is now the number three social network?
Not necessarily. If you go by active monthly users in the U.S., particularly those reported by third parties, it appears that Google+ is..

If Google’s Really Proud Of Google+, It Should Share Some Real User Figures
Good blog post to read.
Quote:
Google+ now has 170 million users. Well, 170 million who have “upgraded” to Google+, whatever that means. It’s the latest in crazy numbers from Google. The people who actually do use Google+ as a social network deserve better than this PR spin. It’s time for Google to properly report their numbers, lest outsiders begin believing the “ghost town” moniker.
Do I sound tired? I am. We get numbers that aren’t numbers, and this from the company that once spent a month in crisis mode back in 2005 when competitor Yahoo claimed to have more web pages indexed than it did. Oh dear. We had to have much navel gazing about how exactly one should count what a web page was. In the end, Google effectively declared that counting pages no longer matter. The famous web page count in the Google home page was dropped.
Google seems somewhat desperate to show that its social network — sorry, its social layer — is a success, and so we get these slippery numbers that mean so little.

Google+ isn't better then Facebook and even with the new design it isn't better. Google is hiding the real truth that the social network still isn't peoples go to social site.

From what I see, Google+ holds a massive professional userbase as well as casual/regular people and friends alike. It's not going to be hard to get Google+ off the ground because it's Google.
Furthermore, you really need to see the big picture. Both Google Chrome OS and Chromium OS as well as Android OS are all owned and developed by Google. These will be the biggest free and open source operating systems of this decade. A majority of the population already has a Google account, especially after their acquisition of YouTube. When the operating systems themselves start promoting Google+, it'll be the next big thing. Of course, that doesn't mean that FaceBook will disappear nor Twitter, but it does mean that people will be sharing social networks. FaceBook won't be going anywhere for a long time due to their massive net worth and revenue stream or until Google decides to outright buy it. It won't be another episode of MySpace (RIP).
Make sure that you consider the operating systems: Google Chrome OS, Chromium OS, and Android OS. Once Google goes full-force integrating Google+ within these operating systems, it'll be a wrap and everyone will use Google+. Google+ is still in its beta or alpha stages, AFAIK. They have a lot of plans up their sleeve, and again, they're Google, the most powerful online entity in the world. They hold the global cyber-market. Their innovation is their success. They will create a social networking platform superior than any of its competitors. Look at Google Docs. It was the most ridiculous innovative idea and solution that has ever hit the Internet. OpenOffice was the start and is a great desktop office suite, but once Google Docs launched and put what OpenOffice was into a cloud, it offered so much more than OpenOffice ever could, and that was infinite security of your data, redundancy, and automatic back-ups. Your computer could crash but your documents on Google, hosted on 100,000 to over 1 million servers, won't crash and lose your data.
The only problem I have with Google... is that it's becoming a monopoly. They're buying any innovative services, like how they bought Android and YouTube, and turning the web into a web owned and operated by Google. We website owners, web developers, and eBusiness owners alike all need to realize that and actually worry because Google could offer everything that we offer and more if we fail to see/realize that.
Recently, I've began and started to switch to Bing web search, and let me tell you that even though Microsoft is a huge company as well, Bing has something going far it beyond Google's web search. Bing web search is an ideal web search engine that can give you the most targeted of results, while Google still can't control their spam. Google seems to be focusing on more and more services and features than what they were originally created and founded on: web search. Look even deeper at Wolfram Alpha, this is a search engine that goes above and beyond any search engine has and computes queries instead of looking for them. You can perform calculus equations, look at an AI's perspective of love (the definition), and even perform estimate queries (in which I won't go into).
I would highly suggest that everyone starts to notice and realize that Google is a force that needs to be reckoned with. Sure, I love the traffic that I get from Google, but I dislike that the traffic I get only comes from Google. I like using meta search engines sometimes to see what they output and even meta search engines have better and more targeted search results than Google.
Try out Bing for a change and start to use it. You'd be surprised looking at the web at a different angle, without spam.

I think Google+ has its own advantages, but atm Facebook already has a huge fan base. I think it will take some time before a transition happens (if it does)

Yea it would surely take time for Google + to beat or come near FB in the competition. As mentioned above that Google+ now has 170 million users.. actually Google is somewhat like forcing their gmail users to create Google + account ..
The marketing is also done well by Google via its services like Gmail, PPC and many other ways
Recently changes in Google + interface was also seen with added features in the profile for users. So it would surely take time and also need to get something new for the users to attract there.

In my opinion Google+ is way to far from Facebook. Even Google+ works the same as Facebook, still Facebook is much better. Another thing is Google+ is unpopular compared to Facebook.

Google has strong support of Adwords or gmail as to advertise Google + on it and attract their users to register or become a member on Google +
Facebook & twitter have already gained much popularity so it wont be an easy task for Google + to get in popularity quickly .. They would need some strong (useful) and unique features to make ppl attract towards +

I loved Google+ when it first came and and your points here do bring it to an even better tool. I think it’s just a matter of catching on and getting better and MORE integration with other Google tools to people keep using it.

I love Google+ seems easy to use and its great if you use G mail or some of the other Google products. The only thing i would say is check out the security functions as you don't won't your private life ending up on the Google search engine.
I heard that some of Facebook content gets indexed by yahoo and bing does any one know if this is true.
