I much, much prefer independent forums like this one * to corporate megamoneymachines like Facebook, part owned by vampire squid Goldman Sachs.
Hope Goldman Sachs hasn't bought v7n yet.
* Even if I post less often than I ought to.

That is why we maintain both because everyone has different preferences.

Almost friends of mine has applied timeline on their facebook profile except me. Its look is attractive but complicated too. A big image covers half part of pages and you have to scrawl much to read the page. I want to avoid it till i could not unsderstand the formula

The new Facebook timeline has been creating excitement and interest and since Facebook started rolling out the previews for the new timeline for fan pages. It will certainly lead to a lot of posts on the subject and has become the social media fashion trend. Here are listed the basic elements and you need to know in order to rock the new timeline layout for pages.
1. The Timeline Cover Photo
One of the major aesthetic changes coming to the new page layout of the Facebook is noticeably the Timeline Cover Photo. If you are going to use a timeline photo it should be around 850 x 315 pixels in dimension. It should be noted that these photos are huge on page and take up some major screen real estate. So try your best to make it pretty. If you want to use some excellent timeline photos for your Facebook page, all you have to do is open GraphicRiver where you can find customized photos so you can edit the text and photos in Photoshop. You can not rollback to the old version. Facebook mentioned that all user's will be getting the timeline as it is set in stone.
Give it time to get used to it.

I think this is pretty important to consider when designing Facebook pages for brands or companies, or at least providing some hard facts on the importance of these areas on the page and which content we should be directing our efforts.

I agree about the business pages... hard to keep the marketing presentation with the new timeline. It certainly encourages more posting and interaction to stay current - guess that makes it worthwhile for Facebook! The static-type page will not convert easily under the new tineline format...requires some new thining and creativity for business interaction and presentation.

Well I like timeline, all the Facebook data is organized, but there should be an option to change it back to normal, not changing back is totalitarian.

After freading these posts I think I am going to take some time to understand this timeline. Actually I find it confusing, but it might really be my resistant to the change. I had to place an add recently and it offered some amount of challenge, as on the original FB page it was very easy to find the "create add" command. i now have to scrool to the end and click advertising. Is there a eaiser way?

To manage your existing ads ad this link to your web favorites.
https://www.facebook.com/ads/manage/
Official Advertising Link
https://www.facebook.com/advertising/
I have a folder for all the advertising programs that i have used or currently using with all the URLs in it. It's easier for me to open that folder, click on link and login. lol

Same, I find timeline to be refreshing look to what Facebook page used to look like. My company's facebook page transition to timeline wasn't difficult at all. Getting to know all the functions took a few minutes.
I personally dig the big cover on top too!
