LinkedIn Adds Ability to Target Follower Updates

Been awhile since I logged into my account. Thinking i should add this onto my to-do-list.

On Facebook, you follow a brand because you like it, but do you follow companies you like on LinkedIn? The B2B social network sure hopes so and they’re working to make those follow connections more meaningful.

This week, LinkedIn began rolling out two new products for marketers. The first is called Targeted Updates. This is the ability to send updates to only a specific portion of your follower list. New product announcements to buyers, software updates to users, job announcements to college grads who don’t already work for your company, etc.

And I can't say I got what and why you were going to add to your to-do-list. Using LinkedIn, or what?
Well, I've got an impression that L-in may be useful for mainly IT companies and their stuff. Are you actually into all this? If not, I bet you'll waste your time.

I'm into this. My company i work for is on LinkIdin (I am little scared on what i post on there in fear of getting fired). Also a few of the people i graduated computer school with are on there. I'm in the IT industry btw. lol

I'll admit, i'm not super active on there, i'm super active on Facebook chating with family and friends.

I like to keep tabs on my company's dealings worldwide other then reading news we get sent to our emails from the headquarters.

One thing i like about L is the "Jobs " feature. Even though i have a full time job, I still am looking for something better or let's say more money. I'm greedy and will admit it. There is a few more things i haven't added to my profile on there but i don't want to put all my information online in public view.

To me LinkedIn seems more like a professional type of social site. It's mainly for networking with other people in the groups that you join. I can't imagine Facebook being more of a IT type of social site. To many kids play around on there.

Yeah, that's obvious.
You won't use LinkedIn to sell products(while FB is a Promised Ground for that), but when it comes to SaaS you'd probably see a totally different picture.

But I was speaking about another thing, meaning that LinkedIn is used mainly by IT pros, not some other. Or, at least, my impression on it is exactly this.
