Do you think facebook "Like " is important to you ?
How much importance do you think Facebook " Like " is having ? Do you care for it ? ( For your information you can "buy" Likes in market for as little as $5)

Getting likes for a blog, site or forum can give you a boost in web rep, which could help you gain new clients, build on your customer service and could lead to more sales. Its a way to show new visitors that there are many people that either share your views, agree with you, or have used your product/service or read through your content and approve, and shows how "popular" you and your product/service/content is with your visitors.
On the subject of buying likes, for me its not really an option. at all. Lying to prospective clients is never a good idea, and buying likes is just that. Lying to clients about how popular your site/service/product really is. Even if you don't use it for business, its still not a good idea. Its like buying friends or a reputation. (IMHO)

Beside many I like to mention 3 advantage of Facebook Like
1. By increasing the depth of engagement and loyalty of fans
2. By generating incremental purchase behavior
3. By influencing friends of fans

put a ton of research and work into writing an article, and have it ignored.
Post a picture of a kitty, and half of facebook "likes" it.
Wait... what was the question!

That sums up many of "likes". Also you can buy "likes". Does it show your real popularity ? or number of "likes" have to be considered with a pinch of salt ?

I do care about "Like". To some extend, it suggests the thread I post is accepted by others. Also this can also promote your products.
I will not buy likes.

Yes, I also value facebook "like" especially if the liker is very much interested to your site. The more genuine likes you have, can help you generate more interactions with your business. It can also help you to let your updates (news, articles, products, or services) go viral and build your brand.

Facebook likes are useful only for business promotion, When you update your fan page then notification of this update are automatic send to all member who like your page, and attract to your website.

They are important only if they're real. Because the more likes the page has, the more activity it has, and the more exposure it gets.

They are important whether they are real or not. Even if they aren't real, the perception of having a large following can get customers to buy.

From business point of view, yes there is a great importance of 'like' button on Facebook, pages as it tells the user engagement.

I have a Facebook 'Share' button instead of the 'Like' button at the end of each blog post. I though a 'share' would carry more weight than a 'like'. Other blogs I read seem split: some use 'share' and some use 'like'. What is everyone's experience? Which one would you recommend?

The perception of having a large fan base can sometimes hold more value than people spreading your content.

It's not important to have likes, it's important to have people on your side that care about your content. Period!

Counting fans!
Seriously, Yes. Got chance to make my services or product to be known. Many can see my updates (like promos). Chances for more sales.

The biggest benefit I have with “likes” is customer feedback. It’s not the most accurate, but it’s still something. I can post two different ideas and see which one is the most desired by my customers.
