Digg is Returning with Bigger Images, Human Editors

I started a thread not to long ago about digg being bought out then they was working on a new design from the ground up. This blog post will explain a little bit about what's coming in a few more days. (Could be anyday really)

Digg is emerging after a six-week hiatus with an image-heavy design devoid of advertising and stories chosen by editors that will be based on shares on Facebook and Twitter as well as Diggs.

“The final version is close to complete,” the new Digg team wrote on Monday. “When you visit Digg.com later this week, you’ll find a beautiful, image-friendly, and ad-free experience.”

The team didn’t provide any actual images from the site, which is set to launch Aug. 1, but did supply some mockups. Digg is back and looking really good.

Social bookmarking website Digg launched the first version of its new site on Tuesday after going back into startup mode to rebuild the site from the bottom up. V1, for version 1, was built on “fresh code” and the team says they plan to build it out quickly.

The new site features more images and stories selected by editors. It is free from ads and appears to have space for bigger stories.

I don't get the new look and function. I'll post my tiny rant at the end of this post. See this blog post first.

Digg the once popular social media news website is under a rebranding from its new owners Betaworks after being acquired last month for $500,000. Yesterday they launched Digg V1 which apparently started from square one with “fresh code” approximately six weeks ago. The team of 10 from ReThink Digg really did start from scratch and lost most of the value they paid. You can’t even call it a social news site anymore as most of the social aspects are gone

Yesterday someone submited a blog post and I approved it (it's past midnight so it's yesterday)... I decided to submit it to Digg since the new design was out. Didn't understand what the heck to do when I submitted it and dunno if the blog post is actually on Digg. Didn't bother to dig deeper as Digg doesn't feel like a social site no more. I've gotten so used to the old way of doing things on there.

Could it take a long time for the new Digg owners to get this social site done right?

What are you thoughts on the new look and it's features...etc?

Yes, Digg is changed and it has different look and one needs now FB account to log in into it.

Yes Digg is now in new design and you can also login in digg through your twitter account also.

Yes, Digg is new. But there is no registration or login page till now. Another question: Has Digg deleted all old logs or are still there in database?

I can't believe the only 2 weeks after the coming of the new owners they manage to make such big change.
I love it before, now I love it more.

Digg was sold around July 12. Despite all the negaive feedback online about the new Digg, you love the new Digg?
