MySpace Impact

Who exactly has a MySpace which they use as a marketing tool? I just started a MySpace because of the fact that I want MySpace to be a good source of traffic for my arcade.

But has it ever been successful for anyone? Do you actually bring in a good amount of traffic from MySpace and are the visitors loyal?

I'm wondering the same thing myself, and I will keep you updated on how well it works. I think it can work very well though it is such an untapped market.

I only have about 150 friends and post bulletins a couple of times a day and it getting me some traffic. Imagine if I had an account with 15,000 friends, I think it would bring in great traffic.

It depends on the audience. For my radio show I think it will work. A lot of people at Winthrop have a MySpace. So I can go be their friend with the account I created for that and promote myself like crazy.

I've lost count of how many people I've seen complaining about being banned from adsense after advertising through myspace.

Cheers for not knowing a damn thing about Adsense and being perfectly happy with that level of knowledge.

Thought of because of your statement, but it would have happened if anyone had said it.

You've still lost me but fair enough.. I was just commenting on what I've seen people complain about lately. Of course, i dont know if there's an ounce of truth in it or if its just coincidental.

That's fine, it wasn't really meant to go with anything anyway. I've been confusing people a lot lately.

So anyway, if you use MySpace be careful. Is used right it can be very good. If not, well, at least it was free.

its the bulletin posting that can get you noticed
People spamming bulletins everyday and seeing massive traffic spikes.
I dont use myspace so unsure how the whole thing works anyway.

LOL, I already got banned from AdSense and Chitika doesn't seem to have a big problem, but I'll open a ticket with them.

ValueClick should definitely NOT have a problem with it considering the type of ads they have!

I was just wondering about how MySpace could play into marketing your website. I do know of a local website where I live that has their own MySpace site and I believe some of their visitors are "friends." It is an interesting concept for marketing...not sure I'm that brave though lol

As for Adsense...were they putting the javascript on their page or something? I could see where they would get banned for that as it really isn't "their" website...other than that...not sure why they would?!

I think done the right way, MySpace could definitely impact your traffic/sales for the better. But much of that has to do with who your friends are, and if they are in fact your target market.

Sixty6, how did you get 6K+ friends? I've heard that there are scripts, trains, etc, but I'm totally unfamiliar with all of this.. Thanks!

hehe, I definitely DO NOT use friend adders and DID NOT but that account

Also, Yahoo! is the one which bans sites with too much traffic from MySpace because of lack of quality..
