I would concur with John on that as the title of the story plays an important role in attracting the readers and of course the content will decide the popularity of the article posted. You also should be actively participating in Digg and make your circle of friends very strong so that your article gets popularity and loads of diggs in a short period of time.

Well, digg is social media. That means you have to understand how social media works. As Zombie said, you should start networking. Make friends: digg their stories, place some thought provoking comments on other entries and soon people will follow your traces and add you to their circle of friends too. Networking is the key to digg success. Networking and sensational stories.

Digg is a different to network. Have you tried AdlandPro, Direct Matches, Apsense and others. These seem to get more attention.

Try Netscape, add friends vote and comment on their stories and then when you submit yours you will get votes, Digg are a tough crowd and it takes a certain type of post for success, SEO stories for instance forget about it, they just get buried.

There have been lots of stories written about how sites like Digg are dominated by a few authors and their related groups. It doesn't take long for "professionals" to figure out how to scam a site and there is little room left for anyone else. I remember ho quickly the online poker sites were scammed by full-time professionals working in groups/packs. The site owners themselves can't do much and have little incentive to change things as long as the sites remain popular and highly publicized. I post on Digg once in a while, just get a little notice, but it is practically hopeless getting anywhere near the front-page without some "in".

Try working on your titles and descriptions. I've never had any recieve a large number of votes but I've always recieved views from any article I've submitted to Digg.
