Twitter & Facebook

I'm sure most of us here are very familiar with Twitter and Facebook...

I personally use both for different reasons.

I really like Twitter and wanted to know more about them as a company and I came across an article, which I found very interesting...

"The hot rumor is that Facebook and Twitter held “several weeks of serious talks” about an acquisition recently, which have since come to an end after the two were unable to reach an agreeable price for the microblogging service."

This is what I found interesting:
"While Twitter might be the “it” startup of 2008, it somewhat famously has zero revenue."

Crazy huh? you would think with Zero Revenue coming in they would want to sell to Facebook!

I guess Twitter has Big Plans for themselves and I wish them all the best...

If your interested in reading the Article, here is the link:

which microblog's do you use?

I love Twitter. I signed up when they were new not really knowing what it was. Now I use it to share my new blog posts and other things I find interesting. It produces traffic to my sites. Now Facebook I have not done much with. I have an account but it is a little overwhelming for me. Using Myspace for years, Facebook is quite different.

Eh, Twitter probably makes money somewhere... I personally have one but think it's pointless. I do however see big things for it in the future.

Acquisition and business transactions aside, one can use Twitter through Facebook to follow other Twitterers and also update their status.

yeah me too, I don't know what is special about twitter? It's simple but I don't know how to use it properly. It's like a matter of posting url in the text box and they automatically convert it to tinyurl.

The thing about Twitter is that there are not a lot of features. It's a lovely stripped down miniblog. All you need to know to get started:

- posts have a max of 144 characters.
- you can follow people.
- people can follow you.

Well, when following up things like news or (god forbid) campaign trails, it's nice to get the simmered down facts without the fluff! Character restrictions ensure that.

If you want to learn more about using Twitter then you might want to read TwiTip. This is a new blog by Darren Rowse, author of Problogger.

Twitter has also had the fortune to embrace cross-platform updating. There are at least a dozen applications out there for phones, PDAs, texting, you name it... from which you can update your latest tweet.

Twitteriffic, Twirl, Twitterfeed, Ping.fm, Twitterfox, Twitterfon, Twinkle, Twitterlator, Tweetie...

I stumbled across Twitter (yeah, I should pull my head out of the sand every once in a while) while submitting an article. I've yet to really delve into it so thanks for the link HTMLBasicTutor. I'll have to dig into this some more...after all, if it will help drive traffic to my site, I'm all for it!

I really like Twitter. I can keep up on news and follow people who share a ton of info on topics that are of interest to me in short, no-nonsense bursts. imo its always interesting to see who follows who too. My twitter name is the same as my v7n name~ Mitey

Twitter following the Youtube strategy.... I Think once they reach they user level market...you will see some ads start pooping up on twitter.... They just don't want to chance away used with ads....They going to get you addicted, let you cant go through the day without it, then they own your eye ball.
