You've hit the spot! How much $$$ is there to be made in the anti-virus software game if you make users so paranoid that they have to update every day to be safe! If the common cold was anywhere near as scary as software viruses doctors would be working day and night to give everyone the vaccine! (hmm, maybe that's why the software developers work late at night!)

There are so many people, and it is very hard to keep up. It is not important who are creating Viruses. The question is who are making millions of dollars each year.

This topic had been on air for the past many years. Even though, there is no solid and concrete proof as you do not tend to leave tracks when you do some kind of a bad thing.

i dont;' think they are doing it, but i do believe they are purposely leaving holes in their security so that people can crack into it.
how else can you explain - differnet programmes to do teh same work,
i mean i want a program which stops unwanted files from coming in my computer,
why do i have to buy -
antivirus
anti malware
anti spyware
antirootkit
firewall
and good knows how many other things.
i rather have one complete solution than 10 diff things doing the same thing

Why not look at it in this perspective,
hackers, crackers, and virus programmers create virus because they can make money out of these virus, one reason is as you all are saying selling it to anti virus companies. Another reason could be they are from competing companies who wants to steal confidential information on their competitors. And maybe it is just their hobby and they are challenged by these so called very secured systems that they want to crack it.
I'm not defending the anti virus companies and such but all I'm saying we just can't assume it's them.
Just my 2 cents ^__^

I've always wondered this exact thing. If you get a virus and only one antivirus can remove it, it always makes me wonder. Of course, no proof, but I've always wondered about the conspiracy theory.

Maybe that is why two antivirus programs can't work on one computer at the same time

I don't think the big AV companies could be creating viruses (although there are many scams that people should be aware of).
But I do know that these big companies hire hackers and virus makers to improve their AV systems against new threats. And I think it's a great idea.

I think it's true but not too frequent , they take huge risks when they do that and most of viruses are made by individuals
but it makes sense , it keeps business running

I do not think so. Both are doing their work. It is just a co-incidence.

As for me,I believe there may be some antivirus companies which spread different viruses to increase their sales.

I heard about this. But I don't want to believe that is true unless someone gives some hard evidence.
