Outlook frustration

Hi all, I was using my personal laptop at work for a while on a project and had my Outlook client configured for the Exchange server at work. The project is done, so now I need to use my Outlook client for other email address, to get my emails from my ISP at home. I have configured the required settings on my Outlook client as per the ISP instructions, and started to receive mails from this account. All good. Until I shut down Outlook and then tried to log in again the next day. Then it defaulted to the original settings for work. The config is there for the new account, and I have set these settings as the default, however no matter how many times I shut down Outlook or even the PC, everytime I launch my Outlook client it will not attempt to connect to the new account...always goes back to try and use the old account details. I have tried to delete the original, old email account....but its asking for a login and password which I do not have now as the contract is over and I am not at that location. Any ideas on how I can get Outlook to use the new account only?

You can use multiple profiles with Outlook.
Setup a brand new profile with your PST and e-mail settings and delete the old profile, once everything's working.

Yes thanks, I guessed I would need to delete the older account....however everytime I do so it seems to ask for a login and password for the old account, I guess to connect to that Exchange server? In any case, as I stated I do not have that anymore, so not sure how to delete the old account now.

Not the account... the entire profile.

In Windows XP...

START > Control Panel > User Accounts > Mail > Show Profiles

All of your Outlook accounts (in your case, past and present accounts) information resides in the one profile you will see there.
Add a new profile, configure it with your PST file info and your POP3 mail account info and give it a unique name.
The next time you start Outlook, you will be given a choice of which profile you want to use.
Use the new one and test it.
If it's working fine, close Outlook and go back into the Control Panel applet and delete the old profile.

Thanks for the input. Tried that in XP....but can only get as far as Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts ....then when I open that all I get are two tabs, User and Advanced. Cannot see Mail anywhere.

As you can tell, Windows is not my strong point...so thanks for your help. In any case if you can think of anything else that's good, otherwise not to worry, I'll just have to rely on webmail.

OK. You may have classic view enabled.
In that case, there should be a mail icon right there in the Control Panel.

There is a setting on the outlook express and if you clicked it off,, it won't ask again for a username and password... As per the old login that pops up whenever you are opening the outlook, my only advice is to set your account as the first account,, and if it doesn't work, you may delete all the account and just leave yours as the only one....

I'll try to paste, the image view on how to set up outlook express properly so it won't ask a username and password again. I just have no much time today...

Thanks, got it now, it was classic view and found the mail option. Seems to be working OK. Also for the other reply this is not Outlook Express I am using...although I am not sure if the settings would be any different.
Thanks again for the help.
