My screen died this morning
Well this is not my day, this morming my Samsung monitor widescreen LCD died, fortunately I had a guarantee, but I need to wait 8 weeks before they repair or replace it. Fortunately I have a little screen Viewsonic I had in my garage to keep me up and running.
I am miserable without my widescreen monitor, and I need to wait now for a long time

That is a very bad news
The old monitor is CTR right? So moving from LCD to CTR will not be comfortable for you.

Exactly Angilina, the spare screen is a little CRT and I wasted 1 hour to setup this screen correctly. Colors are a little bit off, but I am happy to have one screen to keep me working.
3ncryptabl3_lick yeah that's really bad, I thought the LCD screen was more reliable than that. I had this screen for 2 years and a guarantee for 5 years. All my precedent CRT were in live for at least 4 years. Believe me, each time I buy a new screen, I take a maximum guarantee for 5 years.
What makes me confident is that my Samsung monitor widescreen LCD will be repaired by Samsung itself, so it will be not repaired by a wannabe technician

$70 warranty for 5 years on a $400 LCD screen, which is not bad.
I bet they will not be offer that for ever, most screens died form 3-4 years in general.

hi, sorry to hear that. You really got a bad luck there. But the thing is that is great that you have that viewsonic with you, think if you don't have that. You would get much trouble than what you are suffering right now.

That's right and when you are running a business or work online, you better double your equipment otherwise you can be in big troubles.

Good to know that you have a back up and your monitor is still under warranty. So cheer up. You are not really miserable.

Few months ago my BenQ LCD monitor went dead. I am on 17" CRT monitor now. Actually this is the best and most used screen size and type today.

That is really a bad time. Without the monitor you can't see what you are doing.

Guys, just a question: How long do you keep your LCD monitor? or How long your LCD monitor work before it died?

I've got my Samsung monitor widescreen LCD back
So far it is working very well, they replaced the defective main board.
Man, I am very happy, I love this screen and I hope it will last for a while.

How old was the monitor? Was it a defective model because I was looking into purchasing one.

The monitor is 2 and half years old, the main board was defective. The Samsung LCD monitor is excellent just take an extented warranty in case of problem to be safe.

Sorry to hear your monitor packed it in NA, that sux. I personally just got my first 24" HD Widescreen and I can't imagine ever going back to CRT (although I've kept it just in case).
Samsung is one h3ll of a good brand though so if their repairing it themselves you can pretty much be assured it will come back in good shape or be replaced outright.
