Add a link to a Word or Excel file

I have made a link to an Excel file using Dreamweaver but when I try to open the file online the website says:
" Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded".

This also occurs when I tried to link to a Word document.

Both of these files are in the root directory of the website.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi, danc

I would like to say this is an issue on the client side settings. It is the security policy from client side prevent your word or excel files from downloading or opening. I would recommend you to convert your file into PDF format for sharing.

Wish this help,

Have you tried downloading the files using different browsers?

I think this problem is related to browser security. Do you use IE?

I think it is a problem of browser. You can try different browsers to check it out.If IE and firefox is ok,maybe it is an issue on the client side settings.

Did you check with Google Chrome? Kindly have a try with this browser. You are unable to download so may be some policy settings prevent you to do so.

I think this is most likely an issue with your browser security settings. I also agree with AirForce1, it would be better to post PDF files on your website. Visitors may be reluctant to download Word or Excel files for security reasons.
