I've angled a 10 inch fan at the hot part of my laptop (where the vent is) for a while now, just as a precaution. In the past, I've ran wires from upstairs in a house to the basement. There was a small hole in the wood floor for the cable TV wires. I used a screwdriver to chip away at the wood to make the hole wider. The hub was upstairs, and two long wires were dropped into the basement. Most of the wires were hidden above the drop ceiling. Two spots in the ceiling above the basement computers had wires hanging out of them. This was 10 years ago (maybe longer).

LOL this is hilarious.
The first one (the fan on the case picture) reminded me... sometimes when my machine is too heated I too open the case and put a fan close

I've done the first one before, and I'm sure pretty much everyone who lives in a hot country has had a large fan pointed straight at their computer at times.

Cool Laptop Fix
My old laptop overheated to the point of FtF (Failure to Function)... so the soft blue ice-pack the chiropractor prescribed when my back got screwed up (being tossed by a horse wasnt a problem, but not sticking the landing sucked) was now employed as an undercarriage for my hot little HP computer.
The icepack, made of a special material that didnt sweat when it came out of the freezer, was exactly the size of the laptop footprint and it didnt cover up any fan ports... and it DID keep the thing cool. It allowed the laptop to limp on for several months until I got a replacement. Another case of "necessity is the mother of silly-looking fixes."

The phone wrapped to the head with a rubber band is priceless. Personally, I'm in more of a need for a personal flotation device for a blackberry. Perhaps I can come up with a hack for that issue.

I could actually see that some day. A small device goes on the back of your ear and your phone floats around it and your mind controls it!

Aaahahahahaahahahaa! You've gotta be kidding me! These are hilarious! Lol! I use this thing when using my laptop. It works well and the fans aren't open on the bottom like other laptop coolers. If you can't put it on your lap it defeats the purpose of the name! So this is actually the correct fan to buy for your laptop! http://www.amazon.com/Vantec-LapCool...5906584&sr=1-1

That's what happens when you give a hacker a lot of money. They invent that and mass produce it lol.
