Please help me to backup PC hard drive image.

I need to backup my 100 G hard drive (MS and all files).
Do I have to prepare another hard drive which is bigger than 100G?

I am looking for any easy and simple way to backup and reinstall my MS and my files.
Please give me suggestions.

Thanks/Regards

Yes, unless you want to back them up to different drives. I use some hosting companies to backup my computer with. Even though it is normally against their TOS, the normally don't say anything about it

Try to burn it to a optical medium, like DVD+RW, BLUEray disc, or USB thumb drive.

I think the most effective way is to replace the old disk with a new bigger one. No copy need.

Norton has an imaging software, which can be used to take an image of your harddisk and restore it later when ever you need it on to a different disk.

The bottom line is that you should have 2 HD, one HD for the programs, one for your data.

Take the time to back up your data on a secondary HD, portable or in slave mode. Next time you will upgrade your HD program, you just need to take the data from the HD slave that you may need.

You can have a nice HD of 250G for programs and get a Tera HD for your data.

Piece of cake

It is best suggestion given by Natural Elements, by the way, for my other suggestion, one HD for your OS and application and one external Tera HD for your data and backup files.

i can suggest that you
Use a systematic way of storing data in folders.
Buy an external hard disk (250 Gb or thereabout). Be sure to format it NTFS.
Set it up so that it syncs all relevant folders on your hard disk with the backup copy on the external disk
Run it regularly. Disconnect the external drive when you don't need it.

or you can try mozy

I think the best way is to seperate your OS,programs and data into different partitions of the hard disk. Then you can back up your programs, OS etc on a periodic schedule and data that you dont require can be removed after backup from your working disk. Again it all depends on your priorities and an optimized bakup plan can be thought based on your exact requirements.

Partition has good advantage against the spreading of the virus but the problem is when the HD crash you can't recover those file in different partition of HD. About two or more HD, the disadvantage is the virus will spread in different Hard drive.

The simplest and easiest way to make a quick back up is to purchase one of those "One-touch" hard drives you see from Best Buy or Office Depot. If you are looking to make a complete image of your hard drive, then it's a bit more involved.

Acronis True Image makes a very user friendly software that will image your PC. You will need to have another Hard Drive installed in your PC or you can purchase one of those "One-Touch" hard drives I mentioned above.

Good luck.

You can opt for the recovery software. These software are freely available in the market you can look out for data recovery software as the keyword to search for the software.

These software provide you the option to create an image of the data and keep it for further back up purpose.

I would suggest you Stellar phoenix instabackup gold for that matter. If you need any further details on it pm me

Quick Backup Guide

Option 1:

1. Connect an large external hard drive to your computer.
2. Carefully locate all of your documents, e-mail, music, movies, bookmarks, etc and copy those files to the new hard drive.
3. It is impossible to copy applications. You must reinstall them from their source disks or download them again from the Internet.

Option 2:

1. Use Acronis True Image (described below) to create a complete image of your hard drive.
2. This is the best way to ensure that you don't loose any data.
3. While you will still need to copy your documents, e-mail, music, etc to an external hard drive if you're upgrading your operating system, creating a full system image will allow you to revert to your origional setup (ie: go back to where you started) without any hassle.
