Firefox Troubles Again
I'm having Firefox problems again; occasionally when I right click or switch tabs, Firefox exits, or freezes and exits. I uninstalled all extensions, cleared the preferences files, and then re-installed Firefox. Once in a while, Firefox will just exit on its own, for no apparent reason at all. I had this problem before, which is why I went and uninstalled everything. I have not upgraded any part of Firefox, but I am getting these problems. Anyone know how to fix this?

Did the Microsoft error report window come up? It would be new to me if it didn't. This used to happen to me alot but with the error report popping up as well. I got sick of it and just installed Opera, but found that it happens with Opera too, just not as often for some reason (so far). Freezing and exiting was common, but I can't recall if right clicking or switching tabs did it. What made it do it the most was just surfing a site and changing pages, forward/reverse and opening thumbnails etc, in the normal fashion. I did not readily associate right clicking with the occurrence, but now that you mention it, I do use "right click/back/forward" rather than the forward/reverse buttons in the tool bar.
I believe that this error report thing has got to do with MS somehow knowing that you are using a bootleg version of Windows. I am thinking that recieving Windows updates (which I do) may be how they know and can cause this error report havoc to occur on one's PC. I have been choosing "don't send" when the report comes up, but it seems that this does matter. I have a strong suspicion that if you chose to send the report each time, that would not make any difference either, and could possibly make it even worse.

<correction to second to last sentence above (post#2)> ... but it seems that this does not matter.

Usually the error reporting comes up, but sometimes it just exits without error reporting. I am using a legitimate copy of Windows, so it's not that. There has to be a way to fix it.

Hmm .. looks like my hunch is wrong then, I'm glad to find this out. Well, I guess I'm of no help regarding your problem then. Maybe cruise the Moz forums .. might reveal something. Good luck with it.

Clean your temp folder. Del all *.tmp files from your hard drive.

Without sounds stupid its a good idea to do a virus check and spyware check.
I have been using FF for a while now and I haven't had any problems with it closing by itself, my only problem with it is it can be really slow some times, like trying to switch to another tab, or stop a download, or even start a download. It just lags.

I just had the same thing happen to me. It's never happened before but it happened when I was trying to open links in a new window. I know I'm not helping you in anyway by telling you this, but I would also like a fix :-p

He's not crazy, this is real.
The mysterious exit from Firefox happens to me too, and I got sick of it. I decided to get severe and did a low-level format of my hard disk. W2K SP4. DirectX 9.0b. Disabled ActiveX in IE. AVG, Spywareblaster, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Regclean. Firefox 1.0.3 or 1.0.6. Cruising along, everything is okay, then following a link and *BANG* Firefox exits and I get the feedback drone. I'm going to have to give up on Firefox and try something else for a while.
