I should clarify. The problem involves the address bar not changing. I can go to different pages of v7n, and in the broswer the address bar doesn't change - still says http://www.v7n.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24958 no matter where I go...

For the specific problem with your address bar, there are a couple of things to try...

Delete Your Internet History...
Tools -> Internet Options -> General Tab -> Clear History Button
Clear Your Cache (Temp Files)
Tools -> Internet Options -> General Tab -> Delete Files -> Check The Delete Offline Content Checkbox -> OK
(These instructions are for Internet Explorer)

See if that helps.

John I ran into the same problem the other day... I just launched www.Fab-ulo.us and had a fancy dancy flash intro which used Frames... then any of the links on the main page simply said fab-ulo.us no matter what site you were on... couldn't figure it out finally did it was a pain so I crashed the flash intro which is too bad cause it was HOT (you can see it HERE if you want )

OH yeah and the log looks clean now

Hey Pretend,

I had a look at the log you posted. With respect to spyware, virii and trojans, the system is clean. There are no worries. However, I wouldn't go as far as saying that it is a clean system. Both Yahoo and HP/Compaq load a LOT of stuff at boot time that doesn't need to be there. You should consider uninstalling anything Yahoo in the ADD/REMOVE applet in the control panel. At the very least, remove the toolbar. The Google toolbar is installed and that one is fine, unless he needs the Yahoo toolbar specifically.

In short, there is a lot of stuff that doesn't NEED to be there, but it is not harmful, just slows the computer down unnecessarily.

Antonio,

You appear to have some spyware on your computer. First, you should download and install AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com. Update the program after it is installed so you have the latest definitions. Then, you should boot into SAFE MODE and then please run hijackthis again and remove the following entries...

O2 - BHO: ThunderIEHelper - {0005A87D-D626-4B3A-84F9-1D9571695F55} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\xunleibho_v14.dll
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - (no file)
O8 - Extra context menu item: ʹÓÃѸÀ×ÃÂÔØ - C:\Program Files\Thunder Network\Thunder\geturl.htm
O8 - Extra context menu item: ʹÓÃѸÀ×ÃÂÔØÈ«²¿Ã´½Ó - C:\Program Files\Thunder Network\Thunder\getallurl.htm
O16 - DPF: {488A4255-3236-44B3-8F27-FA1AECAA8844} (CEditCtrl Object) - https://img.alipay.com/download/1007/aliedit.cab
O18 - Protocol: livecall - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing)
O18 - Protocol: msnim - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing)
O18 - Protocol: talkto - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing)

Before restarting, run AdAware in SAFE MODE and do a full scan. When it is finished, remove anything it finds.

Then boot back into normal mode and run AdAware again. Same options, full scan and remove anything it finds. Then, run hijackthis again and post the new logfile here.

Good Luck.

Sorry, wasn't sure if I should post this here or on a new thread

I am having problems with Skype. I use the software for anything up to 50 seconds and the laptop crashes. I have tried to use Skype through the wireless internet connection and standard broadband modem.

I've had programs closed, or a few programs open and it still happens.

Darren the log file looks fairly clean...

your FTP proggy installed a BHO (Browser helper Object) - I don't like those, as they are the most common hijacker...

however your having a problem with Skype - I have run into problems in the past where a voice server (through a program like skype) gives permissions - for example:

If on start up you run Gtalk / MSN messenger / yahoo messenger & Skype chances are good that one of these proggies will overlap the needed port for the actual V.O.I.P. to travel on...

So here's my suggestion to fix the problem for the mean-time....

ctrl alt del - just to open up your task manager - if you click on user name it will sort out all of the programs that you have running... your system has running etc... look and see (while you have skype up and running) what's bringing the biggest draw to your system... this should help us better help you

hope that helps

Neo, thanks for this.

The biggest resource and application is Firefox. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the problem. I do have MSN messenger on, but its not taking up much resource, but like you mention it could be causing a confliction with the programs.

There were no othe programs appearing in the applications tab other than Firefox. I think I have used Skype with MSN off and Firefox off, but I'll give this a suggestion and see if this works, unless you have any other suggestions..

Darre

Okay, call lasted longer this time - around 5 / 6 minutes, then crashed.

I'll give it another try and report back.

You don't appear to have anything dangerous on your system, but it is overloaded with a lot of software that starts up. You can uninstall the yahoo toolbar if you're not using it. I have also included a list above of items that you really don't need to load each time your computer starts, or there are missing files that these regestry entries need to be cleaned up for.
