I use IE because I don't like to install additional software on my computer. After a while, it gets bogged down with crap. Just make sure you are updating IE and Windows with the latest patched from the Microsoft Updates website and you should be fine. Turn on automatic updating and there should be no problems. Use a firewall too.

Firefox. It's just better. Really though, it does not matter, so long as you get on.

As a web designer I often depend on FF because of the vast number of web developer tools available that make my job easier. With more than 10% of my visitors using FF it is vital that I make sure my site looks good in Firefox, as well as other browsers.
For casual surfing, I tend to use IE.

Cricket hit the nail on the head.
There are enough people using IE and/or FF that you really need to make sure your websites look good in both.

When I am on my home PC I use Firefox. The only time I use IE at home is to make sure my designs look okay in it. When I am at work I use IE, but only because they are outdated and don't install Firefox on our computers.

I use Firefox mostly, but occasionally I do use IE along with FF to check for the browser compatibilty of a design made.

Do you mean when your comp freezes and Opera lets you start with the tabs you had or something else?

Firefox tries to be standards compliant. IE is a long way from compliant but claims to be trying. If you design a site for IE using CSS workarounds to make it appear right and don't check it in a standards compliant browser like firefox, you may find you need to redo the page again some time down the road.
From a design perspective, I'd say design for Firefox and make it look ok in IE rather than the other way around. Probably less stuff to fix down the road.
