It's not a matter of trust so much, but if you are a beta tester, then you get to have input on the eventual outcome of a program. I have been around the block a bit and quite enjoy running a program through its paces and looking for bugs and tweaks. I still remember being a beta tester for the original Windows NT operating system. =-)

I know what you mean dude. I had been doing it for 12 years .and quit 3 years ago. We used to enjoy testing new products at IBM (I know, sad) and that is where I learn't to leave it to the other guys as I couldn't be bothered with the potential risks of it destablising my system anymore.

Learn't the hard way a few times and I am guessing, so have you

Absolutely...been there...done that and learnt many lessons along the way. The most important of which is never install the beta on a primary system. That is one of the advantages of running multiple machines at a time and having spares, so that I can try out new hardware, software, configurations, driver's etc...without the risk of taking an important machine down. I still run 1.5 on all of my primary machines, just through 2.0 on a spare laptop and then run QA when I get the spare time to do so.
