They were actually hacked back in 2006 but they decided to not tell the public about it. Then when their source code was released they lied some more then eventually fessed up.

Yes. Enigma Group is a great resource for developing anti-hacker skills.

I'm going to create a new account soon. My old one is ranked like 900 or such.

I honestly don't worry to much about it, just change my passwords every now and again and try to make them uncommon words, like "lexicon" that's not one

it doesn't really matter that much because one way or the other they will get to you if they want.

Whats the point of a super password if they compromise a website and take the database with passwords in clear text in let's say a forum or whatever you sign up for?
You are probably using that password for other things as well so atleast use different passwords would be my suggestion.

Social engineering or keylogger for target specific attacks, whats the point of a great password if they literally see the password as you're typing it?

HTTPS doesn't matter if your caught in a "Man in the middle" attack. The traffic will be as crystal clear as HTTP traffic.

I think people should change their minds if they think "no hacker will ever target me" because there are hundreds of servers out there port scanning all kinds of random IP ranges out there and you are probably being scanned right now. those servers generate a list of networks they find with open ports or interesting ports that can potencially have weaknesses or vulnerabilities.

20 + character password? Is that really necessary? Even 8 good and variant combination of character would work! There are loots of tools available which form random strings of words, symbols, numbers.

I respectfully disagree.

Yes. It really matters to me.

I always check if a site has https before entering my personal information.
I always have noscript on unless I'm really sure I can safely temporarily allow some sites.
I use a combination of numbers, letters, upper and lowercase for most of my passwords.
I don't open or run untrusted executable files.

There are only 2 conditions you are secure:

If your PC is unplugged from the network
If your PC is turned off

There's no such thing as security. As long as you know what you are doing, As long as you know who is connected in your network and what they are doing .. Then you are safe

Home network. All of them have good passwords, 8 characters+. The router is the big thing for me. It has a 25 character password of gibberish. Maintaining the router? I have the password in a Writer document and I just copy and paste it when I want to/need to get into the router. which rarely happens.

I say that your cyber-security is only as good as your last backup. I use Acronis Backup and Recovery software. It has saved me a few times. I have it on 3 PCs. Fortunately I have smart users that stop before doing something they know better than to do.
