Exclamation A Weird Problem

My computer keeps writing this (these) character(s) ^\
during the opening and looks like that key got stuck or something because my mouse keeps blinking (flashing) because of this issue.

When i press other keys, it disables the ^\ for a little while but then it comes back. Can somebody please help me about this?

I dont know what key is this character ^\
I dont think any of my keys stuck on my keyboard but i can check.
I use Vista

Have you done any recent updates? Downloaded/installed any new software? Run weekly scans etc. and have you/can you check your system with another keyboard?

My laptop has only done something like that once, and it seems to have been caused by my Iphone being too close to it. I'm still trying to figure that one out though.

This is a laptop.
I have attached/deattached my wireless keyboard
I have installed only regular hardware softwares recently. Like my webcam software and my wireless mouse software etc.

I dont have a iphone but it still has the issue even when my cell is not close to it.

When i boot linux, it starts putting that character in non-stop right after it loads the hardware drivers.

I was gonna format the computer but it did the same thing during the format also. So i didnt format it.

Are you dual booting the laptop? You mentioned vista earlier.

If the issue is occurring with multiple operating systems, I am inclined to think a hardware issue.

You mentioned using a wireless keyboard. Is the problem duplicated when using it? If not, I would say that clinches it as hardware.

I think so as well. I just did not know about the dualboot earlier.

Things have a shelf life, or in this case use life. For want of a better word. For the same thing to be happening in windows and linux shows that its not a problem with the software. You need to take a look at your mouse, your keyboard as well as the port (either where the infrared or bluetooth are plugged into). Do they work with infrared or bluetooth? I would check those as well.

Best way to do that is to swap. swap the mouse for a normal usb mouse, and see what happens. If nothing happens, swap the keyboard for a usb keyboard, and you could even add the wireless mouse again.

I disconnect the wireless mouse and keyboard and the issue is still there. Because this is a laptop and it has its own keyboard and touchpad.

Then that would be the next logical step. But I would rather have that looked at by a technician, because its not the easiest thing in the world to remove a laptop keyboard. You have to take the entire case apart almost. So its not safe.
