Probs After Downloading Flash8

Hello,

I'm new here, and just learning to build websites and flash. After downloading Flash8, I lost the ability to view flash using IE6 on several sites, and nothing I did would fix it. Using other browsers, I had no problem viewing flash, but I can't get any sound! (That's another issue. I need to learn the correct tags for embedding these, I think) Just in case anyone else has the flash problem without any way to resolve the issue, I found this fix on one of Adobe's Contribute forums:

http://docxp.mvps.org/b1n/FlashRepair.exe

A fellow by the name of Jean-Marc came up with this. Just to warn you, when you try to install, Norton's will tell you it is a virus, but it fixed the flash problem perfectly.

Anyway, although my mp3 background music plays just fine in IE6, the rollover sound I assigned to a button is no longer audible, but only for my computer. This happened at the same time the flash problem began, and I can't find any info on that. If anyone has an idea, I sure would appreciate it!

Thanks!

And you are sure that this is no virus? Why wouldn't this be on the Adobe / Macromedia site?

Hello Rene,

Yes, I am positive it is not a virus. It is posted on one of the Adobe Cold Fusion forums. I'm sorry, I think I previously mentioned that it was on one of the Contribute forums. If you have a log-in you should be able to go there:

Look for the posting from Jean-Marc, and countless folk singing praises to him for this fix. It sure saved my rear end.

Best regards,
Gary
