Office 2013 Must Balance Mobile, Desktop Needs
Thinking I should upgrade soon. I'm on 2003 version still. lol (Referring to personal laptop)
Quote:
Reports are flying that Office 2013 may be officially revealed as early as Monday, July 16, when Microsoft tries to keep its most valuable source of revenue relevant to the mobile users it craves and the desktop users it still needs.
According to USA Today and other reports, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is hosting a news conference Monday, where he will announce Office 2013, code-named Office 15, for general availability sometime early next year.
The news itself comes a little later than expected; many pundits were looking for an announcement during Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto this week, but no such announcement came. In fact, there was little Office news at all, save for some mentions of Office 365, Microsoft’s cloud-based answer to Google Apps.
It is not clear what Ballmer will be unveiling on Monday, if the published reports are....

i am looking forward for 2013, but i prefer 2007 due its high stability than upgrading to new releases. But what i like mostly about new releases is its sync with other devices!

I think that Office 2013 will offer a professional business experience with simplicity. As a comparison between 2003, 2007 and 2010 versions; there weren't quite a change. Microsoft only updates the visuality. So, Office 2013 must be upgraded. With a user-friendly mobile support, the new version can move heaven and earth!

The article write "... it is unlikely that Microsoft will try to completely change the game with the Office interface".
I am sure they really don't want to risk it. Ms Office is the most frequent application that any of us use. It would be a disaster if all the menus and tools bars change just for the mobile shake!

Interesting, so I guess their planning on announcing it today! Can't wait to see what happens.
I just hope it doesn't look like windows 8. I'd be happy with a main emphasis on desktop performance with a little mobile here and there just for the essentials.

I am looking forward to this version. Hope it's better than 2010 which is what I am using.

Download Microsoft Office 2013 Customer Preview Today
I'm getting offline in a few minutes but noticed this blog post in my feeder.
Quote:
Microsoft just unveiled the next installment of their ubiquitous Office products, and you can download the customer preview here.
Microsoft says that Office 2013 (or Office 15) is going to work perfectly across multiple devices – “touch, stylus, mouse, or keyboard.”
“We are taking bold steps at Microsoft,” said Steve Ballmer at the press announcement. “The new, modern Office will deliver unparalleled productivity and flexibility for both consumers and business customers. It is a cloud service and will fully light-up when paired with Windows 8.”
Microsoft is putting the new Office firmly in the cloud:

I think only time will say whether Office 2013 will be popular or not. I have used office 2003 and 2007. personally speaking, I find 2007 more stable than other version of Microsoft Office.
I use Office 2007 and have been using it for a long time. Once I hear that Office 2013 has become popular and is also stable like 2007, then I will surely upgrade. For me stability of a software is very important. However, features also play a vital role for a software to gain popularity.
