Raspberry Pi / Android Mini PC

Does anyone own either one of these devices? / Would you consider getting one?

What are you using it for?

I am aware these devices are different, but they can serve a similar purpose.

I am looking at picking either, purely just to mess about with..The mini pc I was looking to turn my tv into a smart tv with and the Pi just to experiment with, maybe run a home server from it.

Yeah, I considered buying one, but then I got a pretty cool deal for a hp n40l microserver.

A friend of mine has a PI and he uses it in his home network for video streaming and file managing.

I was considering both as well but to get your hands on either is not a simple task in a 3rd world country. PI is better fro graphics, equivalent to the original xbox while android mini tv stick packs a powerful CPU that would work well as a home server. The android mini tv stick also handles the latest games pretty well and consider OnLive. Wish they'd make it available in here(South Africa) too

I have a Raspberry Pi and I think that it is a beautiful chip. The Raspberry Pi is a fully featured computer, and you can do almost any-thing with it that you can do with a desktop computer. I run my own Minecraft server on my Raspberry Pi

Really equivalent to original xbox graphics? I think for what I will use it for the most the android mini pc looks best for me, but I can only order it from overseas at the moment..no UK stockist

Its amazing what you can do with one of those things. I think a well-versed Android developer could make good money marketing something based on that.

Checked eBay but there's so many different models knocking about from UK sellers..I tend to avoid overseas shipping. The only legit looking site i found sold RPi's too, but the models of the Android Mini PC were discontinued. To be honest for what I need I'll be buying a RPi for a play with soon!
