Yes, definitely I use DVDs for movies/TV shows but not for data storage. I also use them for my games.

Yes, the DVD player is important. Most ultrabook remove it in order to decrease the weight.

I'm still having the DVD drive but it was not in active stage. Everyone of us adapted usb drives and external hdd's. However, sometimes I have to use it, say: when formatting and Installing Operating system.

I hardly use the DVD-drive in my laptop. Since I also have two desktop-systems I always will have the opportunity to burn CD's and DVD's.
I am thinking of replacing the DVD in my laptop for an SSD. It will result in a major performance boost.

Can you do that and maintain bus/data transfer speeds to your SSD?.
Good idea never thought of it!

Yes. I like having the option of watching movies that are on DVD.

Some software I have is available on CD-Rom as well and I didn't feel like messing with an external drive.

I never use my DVD drive anymore. Most of the video I watch I can just stream online. In the event I did need a DVD drive, I could just buy an external one for $40~ or something. Going back just 5 years and I would have relied on it a lot more though.
