HI, very very odd question to ask!

hi guys. I have a game called roller coaster tycoon 3 by ATARI. I cant play it because I dont have a good enough video card. I was talking to my friend the other day, and he sayed that there is a way to trick your computer into thinking it has the right video card...thus letting you play the game. lol
can anyone help me out here, and show me how to play me game without having to buy a $90 video card? cus I really want to play it but I dont have 90 bucks.

thanks.

Ebay. You can get one cheap. You don't need a great one, just a functional one.

Well for gaming you DO actually need a great performing Video Card and ****loads of RAM too.

If there is one thing that will always require a PC to be upgraded its gaming.

We are up to 3+ gig CPU's gigs and gigs of Dual Channel RAM and believe it or not soem company somewhere will develop a game that will require MORE power than that.

The game is rejecting your video card for a reason, it's not good enough to run it.

You don't need to spend that much. You should be able to get an used ATI 9600 XT, or maybe even a 9800, for around $40-60. My ATI 9600 XT runs all my games (Sims 2, Simcity 4, BFME 2) well enough, sure I can't play at the highest graphic settings, but the games are still very playable. Oh make sure you have an AGP slot, before buying a video card.

Also there's no way to trick the game into thinking you have the right card, it just won't run well.

Right on Thanol
"Older" cards are so cheap now and the thing is, they arent old at all!
6 month-1 year old cards will still run most modern games.

I do agree with you there

I'm running an ATI AIW RADEON 9800 PRO and I don't see any performanec problems with it at all.

Did you ever have driver problems with that card?
I have a 9700 and could never get drivers to work

Nope no problems with the 9800 I LOVE this card

The 7500 never gave me problems either.

BUT!

The 9600 DID give me problems. When I bought it it worked very well for 6 months then suddenly in the device manager in windows three items had yellow exclamation marks.

Rage Theater Video
Rage Theater Audio
TV Tuner Crossbar

I tried returning the card to ATI. They sent me a different card and the same problem occured. I then ended up upgrading my machine new motherboard and all and STILL the same problem was there.

This problem caused the TV functionality of the card not to work.

It's funny because everything works fine with that card in Linux.

None the less I've never had a 9700 but I did have problems with the 9600. I didn't let the problems ruin the AIW cards for me though I've been buying All In Wonder cards for years and will continue to do so I love these video cards

Drivers for many ATI cards are notoriously bad.

Many of them work with one O/S very well, but drivers of other O/Ss suck.

Bah the only time I had troubles with an ATI card was the 9600. I have read about the drivers being bad but I've come across G-Force issues that are MUCH worse.

Personally I LOVE ATI cards I've bought a good 6 cards of theirs throughout the years and will continue to buy them unless if the AMD purchase of ATI ruins the quality of their products.
