Win XP / USB Mouse Issue
I was wondering if anyone has had this issue before;
When i turn on my PC my mouse doesn't always work. 50% of the time I have to reach to the back of the machine and pull it (the mouse) out and plug it back in before it will start working.
Its really frustrating, does anyone know how I can stop it from not working?

Maybe a more powerful power supply? How many watts is your power supply right now?
Also that's really just a guess if anyone else knows of this issue and has fixed it before please post I'm interested in finding out the solution

I currently have a 500w power supply. I have 2 HDD's running (One SATA and one IDE) and a CD-ROM. I would have thought it could easily power all of that.
And I don't know if its an issue with WinXP or not because I formated about a week ago and the mouse was doing it before & after the format

Dodgy USB port? Have you tried another port?

Yer, that was my first guess, I have moved it around to all four different ports on the back of the machine. I'm wondering if its a dodgy mouse...

500 watts should be fine. Have you tried to upgrade the motherboard drivers for the USB? Maybe you have USB 1? USB 2 is more the standard these days.

Let me know if it works Youll need to know your mother board model name.

Well I downloaded the relevant drives, there was an update out so I did them all (LAN, Chipset ect.) and my computer was working fine the last few times I turned it off and back on.
Then just 5 minutes ago when I turned my machine on my mouse stopped working again I had to jump on the floor and re-plug it in. What a pain!

Yeah, maybe it's the mouse. I've never had that problem.

I would have to say there is something wrong with the mouse.
Try getting another one and see how it goes.

I don't think so cause I don't touch the BIOS and also when the mouse doesn't work I just have to pull it out and plug it back in (while the computer is one) which to me indicates the USB is working.
So far with the new mouse I haven't had an issue so I'll keep on testing it for a while and we'll soon find out I guess.
