FREE UK PROXY ANYONE?
I have searched and searched and cannot find a single free UK proxy!
I'm normally reasonably good at this sorta thing but every single one I come across is either US or German for some reason. I am an ex UK resident living in the USA and want to use a free UK mobile text messaging service. But If you're IP address shows as outside the UK it automatically blocks you for abuse of service, even though you've never used the damn thing yet!...I would prefer a link to one of those sites where you just paste the URL you want in the box and it forwards it, though if anyone can find any UK proxy of any sort and supply instructions on how to use it in conjunction with IE or firefox, I will be more than happy to try!...Many thanks for reading this and in advance for your replies!

Nothing illegal. As i said i used to live in uk,moved to usa and want to text some friends every now and again for free. not sure of the differences between the proxies u mention, but as i said,a proxy site that is based in the UK (uk IP address) so i can then put the url of the free texting site into that and it will think im connecting from within the UK and wont block me. Also where can i find out the IP ranges for different countries?..What is the IP address range for the UK,thanks for the reply...keep them coming!

With all due respect, I did say in my original post that I have searched and searched and searched! Google was the first place I tried and it brings up plenty of results but nothing concrete once you follow all the links. I need a link to a tried and tested UK proxy. as most supposed UK proxies have infact a US or German based IP address. Does anyone know where I can get a list of the IP address ranged for all countries as well?...I appreciate your suggestions, but I've posted this because I have tried all the logical steps and haven't got anything decent yet...anything else you can think of?

I don't know what the point of your alst message was, but it didn't help me at all. Do you actually know anything yourself, or do you just tell people to google everything or go to the site on your signature?...obviously posted this in the wrong place.

There is nothing illegal about using a proxy, unless you are using it for criminal activity like hacking, which I do not know anything about even if I wanted to do it.
I simply want to be able to use a Free truly UK based server to access some UK sites that will not accept a non-UK IP address connecting to it.
This guy on here (Redrum*) started with serious replies and is now just babling crap. I guess he is a senior member because he has built up loads of posts spouting "search google" and "check this same website" to everyone requesting help, rather than actually knowing anything and making normal and understandable responses even when he can't figure something out.
I know a moderator might read this and remove it, but if there are actually any moderators that actually still maintain the site, then maybe they can make a decent suggestion?!

Sorry about your frustration man, this really is a great forum with alot of very knowledgeable members. Just try to ignore the stupid people and please don't let it reflect on the quality of this great community Also if I knew anything in regards to proxy I would help you out.

Solution #1. Visit HideIP's website and download their trial version of HideIP Platinum. Once installed, keep changing the IPs until you get a UK IP.
Most of the time, this technique should work. HideIP instructions can be found on their site.
Remember to jot down the UK IP address and its port number though because the next time you'll run the HideIP Platinum program (after closing it), it'll automatically change the IP.
OR
Solution #2. Now, if you are geeky, install Tor on your PC/Laptop and configure it to use IPs from the UK range.
I hope this solution should be enough for your simple problem.

Moderators do read all treads but do not always have the answers. As for replies that are not very helpfull or stupid remarks there's not much we can do about that unless we start moderating everything people say and that's not an option on here, we respect everyone's freedom of speech. (unless it gets offensive or way too annoying)
However, we have numerous friendly and helpfull members who will help you out with whatever question you have. I think that you have received a usefull answer in the post above this one, let us know if it has solved your problem.

I've tried connecting to the BBC iPlayer through a proxy server but when I try to watch a program I'm told I haven't got Javascript enabled. I have. I've tried it with IE, Firefox and Opera but no joy. Can anyone help?

Hi guys,
I am also from the UK but am currently in the caribbean and often in the states and use to have the same problem.
For hours I would search and find these so called free proxy lists from all over the world but they would only ever work for a short period of time or would shut you out after a fair few hours of use. Eventually I did the unthinkable and got a free trial subscription for a paid service.
This Site ask you to go through the paypal process without actually taking any money from you. They give you a free, fast reliable service for 24 hours (although mine ran for 48 hours) completely free. If you like it they then deduct 99p (UK) a day from your paypal account unless you cancel. Now for me personally I can say the service is great, I have cancelled it though because that's way too expensive and Im not convinced I can not get one for free. Anyway this is the link for the site I'm talking about http://www.xroxy.com/. I going to try and find some real free Uk proxies, I'll let you know how I get on.
