WhatsApp, the popular chat app, now has a web version, though you'll still need your phone to connect to it.

Anyone tried?

Not yet, but being Facebook the owner and I am less and less willing to continue using it.
Have you tried XMPP, a.k.a Jabber?

Yes but there are various issues with whats app. One your phone must be connected with internet. This is ok but the most critical issue is whats app got disconnected after some time in this case you have to open your mobile and activate your whats app.

This is good news but what is the point of whatsapp on your pc. We have been chatting on our PCs for ages before smartphones were around. I thought the idea of whatsapp and similar aps were to make the chatting experience mobile.

i think there was not much necessity, to come on web. They should think better and increase mobile based applications. It is like coming done the line.

That's actually good, more and more chat app are now available and because of their big number its hard to determine which one is the best.
