In my case I like windows 10, not windows 8. Because Windows 8 is a little bit difficult to use. in some cases like the machine is used for development side most of the software are not compatible with these OS . The better option is to use open source OS like Ubuntu, Fedora, Mint etc...

I have Windows 7 64 bit. During install - which I did recently because of new motherboard, etc - I always set updates to manual. After install - because Windows Updates is so FUBAR, I immediately disable the service. I'll put in SP1 but that's it. I've had nothing but problems in the past - not due to reckless downloading - but due to Microsoft's so-called "updates." I'm careful about what I install - and I'd rather take my chances that way. I too worked at MS, and sighed my way through triage meetings where many bugs/issues were shelved. New golly-geewhiz-bang was always more important.

It's such a nice discussion to have about Win 8 or 10 as most of people want to know about Win 8 or 10
I have used both win but I like Win 8 more than 10 ! There are nothing so much different between Win 8 or 10 but yes win 10 has start menu which win 8 doesn't have.
My personal experience with win 8 is more good than win 10 as win is most easy & comfortable to use.

It's not as user friendly for the average user. I know computers on a little above average, but I still found windows 8 and 10 annoying. They're pretty much unstable. I have a hard time looking for files, navigating from window to window, finding what I am looking for. I have, however, adjusted to windows 10. I still prefer the older versions - windows xp, windows 7.

Currently, I'm using Laptop (windows 10) and Desktop(windows 7).
Windows 7 is a very good operating system when compared to Windows 10.
Windows 10 Operating System Looking wise good, but performance wise worst
My Desktop 10Years old (low Configuration) but really works well.
My Laptop 8 Months old (Dell 5559 i7 Processor 6th Gen, 8GB Ram) i spend almost 63500 Rupees in india, but not feeling good with perfomance.

i personally recommend windows 7 for all home users (General Purpose)
All Business people use Latest Version of Windows 10 because few days back ransomware attack will happen.

In regards to the opening thread, I just recently purchased a new Desktop (HP Pavilion 550-153wb) that has Windows 10 and as for me, I can't really find anything that I hate about it. It runs smooth, the boot-up is quick and I really, really, really love the ease of pinning stuff quickly to my bottom launch bar. Keep in mind that I have not bought a computer for 10 years and I am jumping form Vista to Windows 10 so I can only speak from a Windows Vista experience. It's like night and day.

Window 8, 8.1, or Window 10 are almost similar to each other! I used window 8 before couple of months & everything was good but I don't how... some software stop working well. There was some issue in Window 8 files. So I moved with Window 8.1 ! It was also similar to Window 8 but yes I got Menu button in Window 8.1 but I didn't much like Window 8.1 than Window 8
than I moved Window 10 & Window 10 was too slow in Desktop (Slow reason may be my system configuration) but honestly I didn't much like Window 10 & the main thing in Window 10 was user interface !

I used Windows 7 previously. One day I saw Windows 10 look on my friend's PC and decided to upgrade to Win10.
Sat with my PC and upgrade took more then 2 hours. (I realized I should have installed a new Win 10).
After upgrade the story began. Battery started overheating, I don't know why.
Everything was working fine except overheating. I changed thermal paste, cleaned fan of my laptop, nothing helped. After using 2 months, Battery error cam while starting my PC.
Switched back to Windows 7. This story is 2 years old and I am still using Win 7.

I think all the updates are for good and we are habituated with the old OS that seems easier to function and navigate.
I'm having a problem with my win 10 that i have to restart 3 to 4 times in a row to actually start working on my laptop.
so new update and of course new problem I've gotten with.

No, windows 8, 8.1 are indeed slow but one thing with windows 10 is that it consumes a lot of data when you're not Wi-Fi network and got me thinking of windows 7
