What browser?

The first thing is to check add-ons / extensions / plug-ins -- there a several many things that claim to be toolbars and such and are - from Firefox at least - easily removed.

But need more info for any sort of real response to the question.

Since I do not use Chrome, what add-ons and extensions do you show in firefox?

Also, what browser toolbars etc are visible.

Also, you may find it lurking but able to be uninstalled in the programs and features section on a Windows system.

Running a scan with Malwarebytes might be fallback option if all else fails.

What toolbars show on your firefox?

What shows under extensions and what is under plugins and is anything under services (these are under add-ons -- you can use ctrl-shift-A to reach add-ons).

One of these may be the problem.

You stated you got rid of something but it came back. What exactly was that something? Where is it showing now?

Please supply this information - my Tarot cards only laugh if I use them to divine computer questions.

Some info on what websites and redirecting to where might also help, but only might.

So, if you can supply some info more extensive than it don't work right and takes me to the wrong places, perhaps someone can help you -- otherwise, like a friend of mine does, you need to drag someone in front of your computer - or drag it to them - so they can look and see this stuff in person.

If it turns out to not be something here, or it is but cannot be removed here or by uninstalling software (that is where we would look next) then you can grab a copy of Malwarebytes and run a full scan on your computer. That particular function can be performed even after the free trial period has expired. But it involves waiting, perhaps a few hours of waiting depending on your system and drive and data, so save that for last if looking the other ways fail.

Once again, please supply details if you want detailed assistance.

For just the browser hijacker attempt the followingBest to move them to your desktop and run from there)

Download and run rKill

Download and run JRT now from Malwarebytes

Download and run ADWcleaner from Malwarebytes Click scan and then clean(This will force your computer on completion be prepared)

Chances are that this will get rid of the problem. There have been times that I have had to use the Reset Chrome back to the beginning of time option to clear it out of it.

Even if this takes care of the issue you need to do a full virus scan and double check what is going on

Run the rKill program from above first (This stops unwanted things that may be running to stop antivirus utility programs from finding and removing threats)

Run the Eset Online Free Virus Scan Check the find possibly unwanted programs option

Download update and run Emsisoft Emergency Kit
