I tried that and it didn't work well at all. I could tell it did work some but not nearly well enough to let me use a web-based app we use here. It was a nice try at active-x but not nearly compatible enough to get away from IE.

I guess I experienced that bug too. I thought it was the forum I was at that wouldn't allow me to paste code, but after reading that, I guess it was Firefox. It has just recently began allowing me to paste, and I just recently updated(Oct 23) to FF 2.0, so I guess that must have been when I got rid of the bug.

I was thinking, how can we really have this discussion if there isn't a set of standards that we're judging the browsers on?
As a regular surfer, I like Firefox-Opera-K Melon-Browzar-IE. Firefox has all of the extensions I've gotten used to, I could probably find an equivilent for most of them in Opera, K Melon is very basic and does hardly anything but has tabs, Browzar does nothing (no history even) and doesn't need to be isntalled, and I just really don't like IE.
As a web developer it's probably the sameorder except move IE to 3rd. IE seems to do what people want it to, not necisarily what they tell it to do.
For jumping on and seeing how much money I have in the bank on my way out the door to go to Charlotte, Browzar or K Melon. It takes about a quarter second to load because there aren't any add ons to worry about.

I prefer FF for some of my applications and certain types of sites, but I am getting used to the new IE and like some of the features it is offering me. I agree with one thing about the new IE and that is it is slow loading pages.

You know I have never tried opera. I have FF, IE and Netscape installed on this system, but have not gotten around to trying opera. Are there any specific advantages to using opera as opposed to the others?

Opera has some widgets that Firefox doesn't, just like it works the other way around. It does some other thing differently too.
If I had started using Opera first I probably would be using that. It's something you'd have to try out and see how it works.

I am going to give it a try and see how it works out. Cannot hurt and if I like it better you never know I may just use it.

That's what I'd do. I have them both, plus about 17 other browsers. That may or may not be a joke.

I have found it helpful to have the most popular browsers available when I am working a website since many of them display differently with each change and it helps to know what people are using so that I can test for issues with these browsers as well.

Brian, have you got the Google toolbar installed in your FF dude?
If so, try removing it and see if it still crashes as this is one of the issues certain people seem to be getting with it.
If not, you're on your own
btw - Happy Holidays dude
