I use linux - no antivirus needed. Try Ubuntu if you will.

I am using Norton Antivirus and am very satisfied with that. I didn't use any other antivirus so can't give you comments about them.

I use Avast Home Edition. I really wanted to sign up for the Microsoft Security Protection but LOL it is not compatible with my Windows Vista 64 bit OS . Absolutely silly!

I would like to suggest you Eset NOD 32. It works smoothly and the main thing is it uses very low resources which does not effect to slow down your PC..
