God is also generally going to be too short.

The keys are all lined up, left to right, on your keyboard.

Could be that help is at hand. I have found a site where you can test your password or create a safe one. www.testyourpassword.com
I tried it for fun but the sceptic in me worries that it could be a phishing exercise so make up your own mind if you wish to use it.

Sell your password for a Mars bar
A password is crap if you tell it to someone.
A friend was tellling me the other day that a researcher he knew stood on one of the platforms of Euston railway station asking people for their work machine passwords (he didn't ask them where they worked). Unsurprisingly he got told where to go almost all of the time.
He then asked people if they'd swap their passwords for a Mars bar and about 7 out of 10 people were quite happy to do so.
I wonder if this is how they managed to make the top 10 lists of popular passwords? Or is it through password phishing sites?

I've never used or even thought of using any of those passwords.
I do use a single password for all my personal accounts though.

my old password was 'einstein' but I got hacked (a free hosting account that I used to redirect my first domain) by *friends* and after that my passwords changed:
- 20+ chars
- digits
- special chars
- mix upper and lower case.
