I don't know about the technical side, but from my experience Intel chips get you way better performance then AMD.
For simple use AMD probably cheaper and better option. But if you intend to do heavy duty work with your computer Intel would be best choice.

Usually you read/listen that AMD works better for graphics tasks such as 3D design and gaming...but I´m not so sure about it, I always had intel (and been working on graphics) and never had a problem, I would tell you to choose Intel same reasons as webcosmo said, an Intel processor will never fail or freeze.

If you're still interested, Back a few years ago AMD was the definite choice they were cheaper, more stable and ran much much cooler. I have to admit that I am not in the field anymore so haven't had the opportunity for direct comparison but I am working on an AMD 3200+ on this computer and ran Everquest II like a charm, even ran more than one instance when Intel counter parts so I heard had difficulty accomplishing the same. I also have a new Laptop that is also an AMD. I used it for Everquest II and other things as well with no problems. I find AMD to be an excellent chip and a good cost in comparison to Intel. But what it really comes down to is do you have need of specific abilities or are you looking for features and cost? That is where you will find the differences I think. Many systems that you get AMD will have higher features at an equal system cost since there is a lower cost of the AMD. And it's possible that at some higher end computing which very very very few will ever reach Intel may actually exceed, but I haven't seen it in the lower or mid-range computer lines.

I think at this time AMD is better for gaming and intel is for work. Their different is in the structures of processor as i know, if i'm wrong just correct me

I am not sure if the same thing holds entirely true, but when I was doing a major amount of repairing building and consulting with computers...AMD chip ran Very much more cooler than the Intel and had better workability and more longevity because of it. The AMD's that I built easily lasted 5+ years, I had one of them, the Intels lasted 2-4 years on average. Of course that was really not something that you really had to worry about as most computers were out dated within 6-12 months any how. But it does give you a frame of reference none the less.

You can't say that and be honest. Come on....yours may not have but that doesn't cover them all.

My opinion, either one won't matter much for a regular system that isn't used heavily. The AMD would probably be a cheaper system if everything else was equal, because AMD chips are lower cost.
Whenever I buy a computer the last few years I just go into WalMart and buy the second cheapest thing they have. Have paid high dollar, and low dollar and they all seem to last about 2 years, no matter what I paid. Especially laptops.
Although - If it is a performance system that must be 100% stable, that's another story.

I am using AMD 64 3800+ and it's the best choice for me such as games and compilation or just for fun...
But i'm sure that intel is't bad for home, but ask your self what for if AMD more cheap...

AMD will give a better value for your money with equal power whereas INTEL is slightly costly

I have used both about equally over the years. Can't say I saw much difference.
Current system is Intel because it worked with the Asus MB I wanted. I build my own when I need a new one.

Both chips are very similar. but their marketing difference is in their speeds. The Intel chip sets (Pentium, celeron) use MHz as a speed factor. The AMD chip sets do not use a mega hertz rating for speed because they believe doing so would make their chips seem slower than their Intel counterparts. Another difference between the processors are the sockets they use. AMD's generally use Socket A (462 pins) while Intel generally uses Socket 478 (478 pins). Other differences include supported chipsets. AMD motherboards generally use SIS, VIA, or Nforce chipsets while Intel motherboards use Intel, SIS, and most recently ATI chipsets.

Ever since I am using AMD for my personal computer and Intel when I'm office and I don't see any difference in performance so I go for cheaper.
