I've been using Avira AntiVir for over 10 years now. It hasn't let me down yet. (I will continue to use it until it does!)
The basic version is free, but they also provide a Premium version and a complete Security Suite.
I have recommended this to several people over the years and everyone who's tried it seems to like/trust it. Never heard any negative feedback from anyone.
It compares very well against other big names in the industry.

I used Avast for a while with "iffy" results. I know everyone hates them, but I have always had the best results with Norton (don't blow up at me... I know people hate Norton, but they are good!)

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say Norton is bad at finding virii. If anybody says that, they are ignorant pieces of poo...
Norton is just a memory hog. So, if you don't play games or need intensive memory for you applications, use it!

Mcafee is really good but it's update process is totally crap and I would go with Kaspersky as it has always had good reviews all round and if you go for the Internet suite package, it is a pretty good deal for what it costs also..

I use "AVG free". I use it because it's free and every day new free updates.

Thanks, but on different tests, the results show that free antiviruses have less effect in the search of viruses!?

Sounds great.. Which one do you use? The free version or the premium version?

Still running the free version. I'm going to upgrade to premium here very soon through. Not because I feel I need it, but because I've been using this product for so long that I feel I should contribute something.
Premium price works out to about $30 CAD. Decent pricing.

For Avira, the AV engine in the free version is the exact same as used in their Premium version. The premium version checks for additional things such as spyware, adware, etc.
Do a Google search for comparisons between Avira and other AV's. You'll be surprised by some of the results.

I use Avast Home Edition, Works great, updates regularly, and is unobtrusive, it runs in the background. It scans incoming mail, and downloads. It's free for Home Users, only businesses need to pay for their version. It's my personal choice after going through Norton, Kaspersky, and NOD32 and a few others.

I totally agree, Avira is one hell of a Antivirus... Kaspersky has also done a decent job cleaning my PC.
